Position Summary
The position of Academic Professional will serve in a Title IV-E field coordinator capacity in our Field Education office. This faculty position will include recruitment and evaluation of appropriate field learning sites, specifically within Georgia DFCS; placement of students in DFCS practicum sites; field liaising; administrative management of field education protocols; and teaching multiple field and practice courses. This position will work closely with the in person and online MSW programs. Limited travel to field sites in Athens, metropolitan Atlanta, Northeast Georgia, middle Georgia, and South Georgia may be required.
The MSW programs at the University of Georgia attract students who are committed to the mission of the profession, with a strong interest in contributing to positive change. The Title IV-E program is a growing child welfare stipend granting program that prepares students for leadership within DFCS. This position is funded by the Title IV-E child welfare stipend program. This stipend program is subject to annual renewal by Georgia DFCS but has been renewed every year since 2015 and is expected to continue to be renewed. It is an exciting time at the University of Georgia and in the School of Social Work, specifically. Both the University and the School are on a sharp upward trajectory, building upon a rich history of accomplishments while advancing our capacity to do more.
Additional Requirements
A minimum of 5 years of post-graduate social work practice experience required.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification
A minimum of 5 years prior experiences in administration, social work practice, student supervision is desirable. A minimum of 5 years prior experience with DFCS preferred. Social work license preferred.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
A working knowledge of the Council on Social Work Education 2015 Educational Policies and Accreditation Standards is desirable. Must show evidence of a knowledge of field education.
