Position Summary | The University of Georgia School of Law invites 1L and 2L applications for the position of paid full-time summer intern at the Veterans Legal Clinic, beginning late May. The Veterans Legal Clinic, located in downtown Athens, represents veterans and their dependents with claims for benefits from the VA and the military. The summer intern will work on all phases of these claims and will help with the clinic’s outreach efforts and with the creation of the clinic’s website. Students will engage in interviewing, problem-solving, persuasive and objective writing, counseling, and community education on legal issues. The intern will be expected to work full-time anywhere from 8 to 10 weeks. A background investigation will be a part of the hiring process. |
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position | Applicants should have demonstrated skill at legal research and writing. Prior experience working with clients in a legal setting is preferred. Relevant experience includes service in the military, growing in a military family, prior work in a law practice (including law school clinics), and a demonstrable commitment to public interest and public service work. |
