Job Description
The Assistant Provost for Strategic Initiatives, will play a critical role in advancing the institution's strategic priorities, driving innovation, and promoting excellence across all areas. The position reports directly to the Provost and works closely with senior leadership, faculty, and staff to develop and implement strategic initiatives that align with the institution's vision and goals.

Primary Responsibilities
1. Strategic Planning and Execution: Collaborate with the Provost, strategic planning taskforce members and other stakeholders to implement the University strategic plan, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and objectives. Lead the implementation of a process to develop strategic initiatives and set of tools to monitor progress and evaluating outcomes.

2. Cross-Collaboration and Partnership: Foster interdisciplinary collaboration and partnerships across academic departments, administrative units, and external organizations. Facilitate effective communication and coordination among various stakeholders to maximize the impact of strategic initiatives.

3. Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth research and analysis of emerging trends, best practices, and innovative approaches in higher education. Identify opportunities for strategic growth, program development, and resource optimization.

4. Grant and Proposal Development: Identify and pursue external funding opportunities to support strategic initiatives. Identify and convene faculty and staff subject matter experts to develop compelling grant proposals, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and requirements.

5. Project Management: Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of strategic projects and initiatives. Provide guidance and support to project teams, ensuring a consistent implementation and project management approach, to support, timely execution, real time performance measurement and successful outcomes.

6. Performance Measurement and Reporting: Collaborate with the VP for Financial Planning and Operations to assist taskforce convenors in the development of key performance indicators (KPIs) and routine reports to assess the impact of strategic initiatives. Prepare presentations for senior leadership, Georgia State community, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications
  • A master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of degree and experience.
  • A proven track record of successful strategic planning and execution in an academic or comparable setting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and critically.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in project management, including planning, execution, and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of current trends and issues in higher education, particularly related to strategic planning and innovation.
  • Familiarity with grant development and proposal writing is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
