Responsibilities

Peachford Hospital is searching for experienced Mental Health Techs to work full-time on several of inpatient nursing units.

Mental Health Assistants provide direct patient care to patients with psychiatric disorders as well as chemically dependent patients to ensure their safety and well-being. Patient safety is priority at Peachford Hospital so attention to detail and an ability to skillfully establish therapeutic rapport with our patients will help make you successful in this role.

What Will You Get To Do?
Mental Health Assistants are responsible for completing the following duties and tasks:

  • Monitor unit patients and complete rounds as assigned.
  • Report all areas of concern regarding patient's mental or physical status to the Charge Nurse.
  • Assist in the admission process, including obtaining vital signs, safety search of patients and personal belongings, obtaining urine specimens and orienting new patients to the unit and their program.
  • Ensure precaution protocols are followed, and encourage patients to actively participate in all program activities.
  • Plan, prepare and lead psychoeducational groups.

What Does Peachford Require for this Role?
A bachelor's degree in a social services related field (psychology, sociology, etc.) is required and previous inpatient/outpatient hospital experience is preferred.

Qualifications

What Does Peachford Require for this Role?
