Reading Instruction and Assessment – Log #25-002

The College of Education and Human Development at Georgia State University invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Reading Instruction and Assessment.

The College of Education and Human Development’s programs in teacher education focus on the needs of urban school districts with diverse student populations. The College offers 63 degree programs from the bachelors to doctoral level.

Position Description:

Primary responsibilities include conducting a research agenda focused in reading instruction and assessment and teaching courses in the foundations of reading, language, and literacy, and evidence-based reading instruction and assessment for preservice and inservice teachers. Additional responsibilities may include coaching teacher education students, participating in program development/coordination, advising undergraduate and graduate students, serving on department, college, and university committees, participating in professional conferences and organizations, and engaging in scholarly activities as appropriate. It is expected that the successful candidate will engage in relevant research and apply for external funding for research and/or program development. The successful candidate will be assigned as faculty to the CEHD department that best aligns with their preparation, experience, and interest.
          
Qualifications:

The successful applicant will have an earned doctorate with an active research agenda in reading instruction and assessment. They should have a strong background in current trends and issues in reading instruction and assessment, commitment to teaching students in urban settings, and strengths as a reading specialist teacher/leader.
