The Robinson College of Business (RCB) of Georgia State University (GSU) and the Department of Finance invites applications for one or more non-tenure track faculty appointments to be effective Fall Semester 2024.  The appointment will be at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, however seasoned candidates with records of excellent classroom instruction and established research programs will be considered for the rank of Clinical Associate Professor. An appointment is renewable annually, but is not limited in duration. An earned doctorate in finance or a related discipline is required from an AACSB-accredited institution (or similarly accredited international university). In addition to classroom instruction, appointees will be expected to engage in the practicum of finance including the supervision of field study courses and corporate sprints, and to conduct research that includes a component pertaining to finance practice, pedagogy or the scholarship of teaching and learning (SOTL). Normal faculty service assignments are expected.

Direct responsibilities entailed in the position include:
 
  • Teaching
The successful candidate will (a) demonstrate the ability to engage in high-level classroom instruction including instilling in students an understanding of the underpinnings of finance and their successful application to effective business decision-making, (b) be adept at instructing a broad spectrum of students including those at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and (c) be effective in multiple instructional modalities.
 
  • Service
The successful candidate will be expected to assume normal faculty service assignments at the unit and college level, as well as engage in activities that promote student success such as advising student case and portfolio management teams and overseeing student organizations.
 
  • Research 
The successful candidate will maintain an active research program that includes a component in the areas of finance pedagogy or the scholarship of teaching and learning (SOTL).

The Department and the RCB share the strategic goal of becoming one of the leading business schools at the forefront of transforming business education and research in the areas of financial innovation and entrepreneurship, FinTech, and data analytics. Opportunities for professional growth in these areas are excellent with all faculty provided significant budgets, data support and access to many similarly interested colleagues in the Department and other units in the RCB including the Institute for Insight, the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Institute, and the School of Accountancy.

The Department of Finance organizes and hosts an annual fintech research conference in partnership with the Review of Financial Studies along with an annual boutique conference in conjunction with the RCB’s Center for the Economic Analysis of Risk (CEAR).  RCB was among the first U.S. business schools to operate a FinTech Laboratory. Further, RCB serves as the host institution for the Georgia FinTech Academy, a public-private partnership that brings together Georgia’s fintech business community with all 26 colleges and universities that make up the University System of Georgia to develop future leaders in the sector through innovative educational programs. The Department values a commitment to quality teaching at the undergraduate, MBA, MS and PhD levels.
