Job Description

Job Summary: McKenney's is seeking experienced Pipe Fitters and Welders that must take direction from Foreman and work alongside fellow Construction Helpers, Apprentices and Journeymen on the job in the installation of mechanical systems including ductwork and process piping while maintaining the highest level of safety and quality standards.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

  • Pipe threading and fitting
  • Plasma cutting
  • Brazing
  • Soldering
  • Tube Bending

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel to various jobsites
  • Must adhere to safety protocol
  • Must have extensive knowledge of construction hand tools

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 4 years construction experience
  • Welding in any of the following techniques (MIG, TIG, SMAW, GMAW, Structural)
  • Familiarity withLocal Union 72 guidelines and requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Install,maintain, and repairhigh and low-pressure water systems,refrigeration systems, heating and air conditioning systems, pneumatic, electronic controls, instrumentation, and valve repair equipment.
  • Installs and maintains refrigeration and air conditioning systems including compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, and piping.
  • Lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, welds, and maintains piping systems
  • Installs equipment forheating, cooling, lubricating, and mechanicalpiping systemson basis of knowledge of system operation and study of schematics, shopdrawings, and building codes.
  • Selects type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications.
  • Cuts or drills holes in walls to permit passage of pipes.
  • Cuts pipe, using a saw, cutting torch and pipe cutting machine.
  • Assembles and installs a variety of metal and nonmetal pipe and pipe fittings, including those made ofsteel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper, glass, fiberglass, and plastic.
  • Joins piping by means of threading, welding, soldering, brazing, fusing, mechanical or cemented joints.
  • Secures pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers.
  • May supervise and coordinate activities of fellow crew membersengaged in fabricating, assembling, installing, maintainingpiping andequipment forhigh-pressurepiping, high pressure-high temperature hot water, low andhigh-pressuresteam, condensate, hydroniccooling, refrigeration, pneumatic, lubricating, and mechanical piping systems.
  • May inspect on-going or completed process pipingsystems to determine that they are installed correctly and perform as intended.
  • Must have aworkingknowledge of mechanical codes
