Lecturer in Applied Voice – Any Voice Part (Log Number 25-049)
The School of Music at Georgia State University in Atlanta seeks to hire a non-tenure-track Lecturer in Applied Voice with specialization in any voice part to begin in the 2024-25 academic year. The successful applicant can expect to teach the equivalent of four three-credit hour courses per academic semester (~20 applied lessons per week) focused primarily on applied voice and studio classes. We are especially interested in applicants who can connect their teaching with the diverse population of the student body at Georgia State University. This position is a full-time, continuing appointment subject to a third-year review in accordance with promotion policies and eligible for full health and retirement benefits (see https://hr.gsu.edu/service- centers/benefits/new-hire-benefits/ ).
As a Lecturer in Applied Voice at Georgia State University, you will play a vital role as the School of Music collaborates to transform its curriculum and pedagogy to foreground experiential, interdisciplinary, and technologically enhanced learning furthering Georgia State’s strategic goal of demonstrating that students from all backgrounds can achieve academic and career success at high rates. The School of Music is part of the College of the Arts, which was established in 2016 and also includes the Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design, the School of Film, Media & Theatre, and the Center for Educational Partnerships in Music. In addition to offering some of the university’s most popular majors, the college connects faculty and students with Atlanta’s thriving arts scene and booming film and music industries. Opportunities for growth and support in this position include university-level teaching fellowships and grants through the Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Online Education, leadership in instructional innovation through our active learning classroom program, and successive promotion to the ranks of Senior Lecturer and Principal Senior Lecturer.

Responsibilities
The selected candidate can expect to:
- teach applied lessons for approximately 20 undergraduate and possibly some graduate students per semester;
- teach weekly studio class and assist with the voice area labs, as well as work with their students on recitals;
- actively recruit music students, especially voice performance and choral music education, from the state of Georgia and beyond via outreach and recruitment events, including interaction with pre-collegiate students and high school music programs;
- teach other voice-related courses as needed (i.e., teaching of Italian, English, German, and French diction);
- work closely with voice, choir, and opera colleagues; and
- actively participate in faculty governance, recruiting, and school, college, and/or university-level service.
Salary - $50,000
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications-
- Master of Music degree or equivalent (i.e., licensure from an international accredited institution, high level of performance experience)
- Demonstrable success teaching applied voice at the collegiate level
- Demonstrable commitment to designing and implementing creative music instruction strategies that align with learning needs and assessment measures
Preferred Qualifications

- Completed doctorate in music or commensurate experience
- Demonstrable success as a performer
