About the School Of Materials Science And Engineering

The SCHOOL OF MATERIALS SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING at the GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY invites applications for its Materials Science and Engineering Lecturer position. The school has vibrant undergraduate and graduate programs, with ~200 undergraduate majors and ~200 graduate students, and an extensive research portfolio. Its faculty, staff, and students participate in a range of dynamic and collaborative research programs, engage in professional and career development, and enjoy modern facilities located on a pleasant urban campus in the City of Atlanta, Georgia.

Job Summary

The position will provide lecture instruction to undergraduates and/or graduate students in Materials Science and Engineering. Applications from candidates with interests in evidence based instructional methods and education research are strongly encouraged.

Responsibilities

Initial responsibilities will include developing and delivering lecture instruction (typically 12-18 credit hours total per year) for undergraduate courses in Materials Science and Engineering such as Principles and Applications of Engineering Materials (MSE 2001), Materials Characterization (MSE 2021), Structural Transformations (MSE 3002), and Transport Phenomena (MSE 3210). The course coverage and assessment tools will be coordinated amongst the other faculty who teach these courses so that students have a uniform, high quality experience regardless of instructor.

The position will also develop supplemental digital resource materials to support course instruction.

Additional responsibilities may include lecture instruction and supplemental digital resource materials to support graduate-level course instruction.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, BS Materials Science and Engineering and PhD in Engineering Education, or PhD in field related to Materials Science and Engineering
