Job Description

As the EHS Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing a comprehensive Environmental, Health and Safety program for PPG's Kennesaw, GA facility along with our Chemical Management Services (CMS) programs. You will provide leadership and training that will ensure a safe and healthful workplace for our associates while ensuring compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations to minimize current and future risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive key safety initiatives including job safety analysis, site safety risk assessments, risk mitigation, and Management of Change.

  • Facilitate internal audits and self-assessments. Assist operations in addressing audit recommendations.

  • Help administer workers' compensation program to determine areas for increased training and emphasis on accident prevention.

  • Monitor site conditions, practices, and procedures for compliance with health, safety, environmental and product stewardship requirements.

  • Oversee the incident investigation process to determine root cause and corrective actions.

  • Manage the facility's industrial hygiene sampling program to ensure accurate sampling, testing and exposure assessment.

  • Oversee the collection, packaging, testing, storing, transporting and/or disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials or waste.

  • Manage the sites environmental needs to maintain compliance with permits and regulatory requirements. This role will also manage sustainability for facility.

  • Act as the first point of contact of authorities and customers in case of accident, damage, or spills; Serve as facility contact for federal and state agencies.

  • Train and onboard all new hires to ensure understanding of EHS requirements.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or related Science.

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in the EHS field, preferred manufacturing or chemical setting.

  • Strong knowledge of regulations and consensus standards (OSHA, EPA, DOT, NIOSH, ANSI, NFPA, Workers' Compensation), inspection procedures, audits, hazard reviews, incident prevention, incident investigation techniques, and safety and environmental education and training.

  • Ability to act as an effective advisor to management and employees across a variety of issues.

  • Travel required up to 25%.
