Overview

Merrick & Company is looking for an Electrical Facilites Engineer to join our team of diverse, dedicated, and talented employee owners! This position will be located in any of the following offices and will have the potential for a hybrid work schedule after initial training is complete. (Albuquerque, NM; Greenwood Village, CO; Boise, ID; Atlanta, GA; Merritt Island, FL, San Antonio, TX or Huntsville, AL).

Successful candidates will be self-starting, motivated, innovative, articulate, self-disciplined, and confident in a demanding, exciting and fast-paced environment. This engineer will be responsible for all phases of engineering production and BIM for a variety of work ranging from programming through construction administration. This includes interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating the design and production effort for one or more large or complex projects.

Typical annual pay range for this position is $105,000.00 - $125,000.00. Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Requirements

  • Design of electrical systems for facilities for Sandia National Lab, Government, and private clients.
  • Provide conceptual / detailed design for facility power distribution (<=600V), site power distribution (<=15kV), emergency power generation, grounding and lightning protection, lighting design, telecommunications (voice/data), fire alarm / mass notification, security, access control, and special systems.
  • Provide supporting documentation such as calculations, reports, and specifications.
  • This individual is expected to possess extensive knowledge on electrical regulatory codes.
  • Meet with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of work.
  • Prepare fee proposals for engineering design work.
  • Work with other engineering disciplines to ensure accuracy of the package, meet schedule, and budget commitments and meet expectations for attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and within a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to complete tasks with accuracy and with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines, completing tasks as previously defined, and to multitask on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Ability to write and edit specifications.
  • Work in a design team environment, including directing and mentoring the work of junior engineers and designers, and delegating work as required as well as provide management of the local team.
  • An agreed upon hybrid schedule, working from both home and office, is available to employees in good standing.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Eight (8) years of experience in facility electrical engineering design.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.
  • Proficient in using REVIT/AutoCAD.
  • Experience using electrical calculation tools is desired, including lighting software such as AGi32, Elum Tools, and power software such as SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or EasyPower.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Excel & Word.
  • Experience with technical codes such as NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEEE is required.
  • Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
