About the Department
Position Description
Georgia State University's Office of Faculty Affairs invites applications for the position of Assistant Provost for Faculty Success. This position reports to the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs.

This position is for full-time employment and will be conducted through a national search. The position will begin in January 2025.

Candidates must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, excellent judgment, and strategic vision. Candidates should also have experience with leadership development, promotion and tenure, faculty policies, and conflict management. A terminal degree and administrative experience is required.

Examples of Duties
  • Manage and create faculty leadership development opportunities.
  • Lead the continuous improvement and revision of faculty policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the review and update to university-level manuals related to promotion, tenure, and continuance.
  • Manage, develop, implement, and evaluate customized leadership development workshops, seminars, and other programs and activities.
  • Assist with OFA events (i.e. New Faculty Orientation, Celebrating Faculty Excellence, and other faculty development workshops, programs, and institutes).
  • Provide a broad range of delivery methods for leadership development and mentoring while using the most current technologies.
  • Collaborate with academic units and other stakeholders campus-wide to adapt leadership development programming to the needs of the faculty and the university.
  • Work collaboratively with University administrators and offices.
  • Work closely with the Office of Faculty Affairs team to identify strategic priorities.
  • Assist the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs with internal investigations, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
  • Leadership experience as a department chair/director or in a similar administrative role.
  • Strong understanding of faculty policies, manuals, and/or guidelines.
  • Strong understanding of faculty development needs.
  • Knowledge of conflict management pedagogies and practices.
Required Education
Terminal degree in a discipline appropriate for tenure at the professor level.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
  • Experience creating and/or revising faculty policies, manuals, and/or guidelines.
  • Understanding of leadership pedagogies and best practices.
  • Experience leading faculty development workshops.
  • Experience in conflict management and mediation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Competent in the areas of faculty leadership development and mentoring.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication.
  • Strong organizational, management, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledgeable about the promotion and tenure process.
  • Use of teaching methods that engage, promote critical thinking, and are inclusive of all faculty.
  • Flexibility in handling shifting priorities.
  • Able to interact effectively and diplomatically with stakeholders across the university.
