POSITION SUMMARY:

  • The Designer reports to the Director of Design and Development
  • Located in Overland Park, KS
  • Full-Time
  • Hybrid

The Designer is responsible for commercial kitchen design, draft layouts, production drawings, and presentation drawings. This position is responsible for partner/client relationships when developing schematic design, design development, and prototypical packages. The designer is also responsible for coordinating with architectural and engineering partners in various regions of the country.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaboration and Project Management:
    • Lead collaborative efforts on multiple commercial kitchen projects, engaging in all design phases from concept to completion.
    • Manage project timelines, ensuring deliverables align with client expectations and internal benchmarks.
  • Design Conceptualization:
    • Conceptualize and sketch layouts, leveraging creative insights to optimize space utilization and workflow efficiency.
    • Conduct capacity and sales studies to inform design decisions and ensure alignment with client goals.
  • Client Interaction and Needs Assessment:
    • Initiate and maintain effective communication with clients, conducting meetings to ascertain their specific spatial requirements and design preferences.
    • Collaborate with clients to understand their vision, translating it into actionable design elements.
  • Coordination and Execution:
    • Coordinate the entire lifecycle of drawings, from order placement and procurement to installation, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Presentation and Documentation:
    • Develop visually appealing graphical presentation drawings that effectively communicate design concepts to clients and project stakeholders.
    • Create comprehensive documentation for training purposes, setting clear standards for design elements and implementation procedures.
  • Problem Resolution:
    • Proactively identify and address any issues related to drawings or documentation, ensuring that potential roadblocks are resolved promptly.
    • Collaborate with team members to find innovative solutions to challenges that may arise during the design and implementation process.
  • Client Meetings and Design Reviews:
    • Attend and actively participate in design reviews and client meetings, presenting design concepts and incorporating feedback to refine project deliverables.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with architectural and engineering partners in different regions, fostering effective communication and ensuring seamless integration of design elements with broader project requirements.

  • Strong conceptual and client-service skills, contributing to effective problem-solving.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, managing tight schedules, deadlines, and budgets in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills fostering effective communication and collaboration.
  • Superior technical and layout design skills, coupled with strong conceptual and strategic thinking abilities.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 - 4 years of relevant experience, showcasing your commitment and expertise in the field, or equivalent Military or practical experience.
  • Proficiency in advanced computer skills, including software such as Revit, Navisworks Manage, BIM360, Bluebeam, Smartsheet, AutoCAD, AutoQuotes, KCL, Skype, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Previous experience in the foodservice industry preferred.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check post offer acceptance.

The range provided represents the national average pay range for this position and is considered to be a general guideline. Pay for this position will reflect the candidate's unique qualifications and may be higher or lower than the range provided based on employee geographic location. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other local, state, and federal law.

In addition to base salary, this role will be eligible for participation in TriMark's' benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, 401K (with employer match), etc. Leadership positions may also qualify for participation in bonus programs commensurate with role and scope of responsibility.
