Primary Responsibilities

HDR l ICA is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to work in the Cartersville Area of Georgia. This will entail advanced level technical work in functional areas of contract administration and management. Will be under limited supervision and will independently manage contracts.

This position will inspect and supervise lower level inspectors performing routine to moderately complex inspections of roadway assets to assure compliance with the maintenance contract and other applicable guidelines. Work includes monitoring traffic control and erosion control on the project. Work also includes monitoring cost estimates; negotiating prices for contract modifications with contractors; writing or supervising the preparation of reports and correspondence; and working and communication with contractors, supervisors, subordinates, local officials, media and the general public.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

BS Degree in Civil Engineering/Technology and five (5) years of progressive transportation technician experience; OR two-year technical college with a degree in Civil Engineering Technology and seven (7) years of progressive transportation technician experience; OR High School Diploma and ten (10) years of progressive transportation technician experience as an employee or consultant for a State Highway Agency; or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of specifications and standards, acceptable maintenance and practices, materials, methods and equipment used in highway construction and engineering. Thorough knowledge of mathematical functions, including algebraic, geometric, and trigonometric calculations related to highway/transportation engineering. Ability to read and comprehend maintenance plans and contracts and all other documents associated with the project. Must be proficient in Microsoft office to include Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Must have prior experience with GDOT projects.

Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with Georgia Law.
