Estimator is responsible for providing direct pricing support to internal and external customers on design/build and publicly bid projects using the most current pricing available. They will also be supported in ensuring estimates are being done in accordance with the high standards of the organization. This role reports to Estimating Manager or Estimating Team Leader.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Prepares estimates from information received such as contract drawings, specifications, and addendums using in-house pricing software, supplemental design and pricing programs and information obtained from 3rd party vendors.
  • Identifies exclusions, discrepancies, missing information and obtains clarification and qualifies the quotation (through Project Notes) based on that information.
  • Provides adds, deducts, or alternates as requested to estimates that require special pricing beyond the current capabilities of the pricing software.
  • Evaluates customer provided information for cost effective solutions (value engineering).
  • Ensures the use of the most current pricing information when preparing the estimate.
  • Builds and maintains Builder/Vendor relationships.
  • Maintains relations with the Builder Network, Field Sales force and downstream departments.
  • Communicates with Builders, Sales, Customer Service and Engineering regarding any clarification of scope/design intent that the Estimator was involved in.
  • Self performs estimates with little to no guidance.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications/Skills:
  • Good mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines for completion.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal methods.
  • Ability to review and interpret project specifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Exhibit competency in use of in-house pricing programs and procedures.
  • Must be computer proficient, particularly in BWX UI and Excel.
  • Must be detail and customer service oriented.
  • AutoCAD experience.
  • Must be comfortable on the phone with customers and Field Sales.
  • PEMB knowledge in product offerings.
  • Basic understanding of design considerations.
  • Basic knowledge of insulated panels and other adjacent Cornerstone products.


Education/Additional Information:

Minimum 2 years of PEMB experience (Cornerstone preferred).

High school diploma is required. Associates degree in related field preferred.

Work related travel would typically be less than 2 times per year.
