Due to continued growth, our Corporate Group is seeking a Business Development Lead - Transmission & Distribution Engineering for our Kennesaw, GA location. Other office locations will be considered as well such as our Naperville, IL, Dallas, Tx, Houston, Tx, Orlando, Tampa and Palm Beach Gardens, FL locations. For the right candidate, remote work can be considered as well. In this role, you will report to the Vice President of Business Development / Chief Strategy Officer.

Responsibilities (including but are not limited to)

  • Perform business development of clients and business opportunities through direct client contact to capture new and follow-on work, and expand ENERCON's service offerings.
  • Review and respond to RFI, RFPs, and RFQs, and assist in preparing proposals.
  • Participate in strategic growth initiatives to expand ENERCON's client and delivery footprint.
  • Develop and implement competitive strategies for acquiring targeted clients and expanding the relationship with existing clients.
  • Develop detailed client capture strategies to achieve success in our target markets.
  • Develop strategies to address client risk, execution concerns, and stakeholder issues.
  • Lead Proposal Go/No Go and Bid/Bo Bid discussions
  • Work with Account & Project managers on strategic pursuits, including proposal development and client meetings, and help to maintain strong relationships with key leaders.
  • Lead and mentor Account and Project Managers on strategic pursuits including proposal development and client meetings and help maintain strong relationships with key leaders within Enercon including the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Work with technical staff to ensure technical reports are completed per client requests.
  • Effectively and collaboratively work with key stakeholders from Operations, Marketing, Proposal Groups.
  • Drive organic growth of operation through new service areas and expansion of existing service areas.

Required Qualifications / skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business, or similar discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 experience in engineering or power utility industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years of business development success in the Electric Utility sector.
  • A strategic planner with demonstrated skill and success in business development
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills - ability to adjust messaging to all levels of stakeholders and establish strong client/employee relationships
  • Proven track record of developing, retaining, and maintaining clients.
  • Proven relationships with clients in the power industry and EPC, project developers.
  • Ability to communicate highly technical engineering data to a range of audiences from industry partners, governing bodies, and stakeholders.
  • Experience developing and making presentations to potential clients, especially in conference settings.
  • Experience in responding to requests for qualifications and proposals from clients and in preparing proposals and proposal coordination.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Have strong communications skills both written and oral.
  • Ability to travel on business 20-40% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications / skills

  • Existing relationships and strong contacts in the Power Utility Industry including IOUs, IPPs, Project Development companies, EPCs, OEMs engaged in the planning, design, and construction of Electrical Power Generation and Delivery Projects
  • Experience working with Engineering/construction organizations that provide consulting, engineering, and design services for power distribution, transmission, and/or substation work.
  • Experience with EV Charging, BESS, and Renewable Energy (MV and HV Scopes) Projects and opportunities
  • Experience working with clients in the Power Generation Industry, including developing/maintaining client relationships and successful sales experience with engineering design packages for Power Generation projects.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in commercial contracts and pricing strategies
  • Past experience using CRM Tools, especially SalesForce CRM

Ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings, ENERCON and client-specific background checks, and annual motor vehicle record (MVR) according to company and client policies.
