As our Sales Engineer, New Business Development, you're responsible for working directly with customers utilizing process improvement methodology to understand their business model's current state to provide optimum solutions, financial benefits of change, and other opportunities for Tosca. There will be a focus on protein, poultry, eggs, seafood, food service, QSR, e-commerce, C-Store, the center of store, and the home meal delivery industries. The Sales Engineer will also support sales team members depending on the complexity of the customer's workflow.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide process improvement expertise to support both the sales team and customer
  • Project management on more complex customer accounts
  • Complete market assessments for new growth opportunities in foodservice, QSR, e-commerce, and home meal kits. Provide a comprehensive assessment of the various supply chain network flows (e.g., distribution and transportation infrastructure) to identify where Tosca can add value.
  • Achieve budgeted revenue and profit goals of the Company.
  • Carry out business development activities by engaging existing and prospective supplier customers by effectively communicating Tosca's value proposition.
  • Develop and execute customer engagement strategies, schedule face-to-face meetings, and attend industry events.
  • Partner with grocery retailers (e.g., management and store level interaction) in coordination with Tosca's retail sales team to drive new business development opportunities.
  • Conduct pack-outs (i.e., comparing current packaging practices vs. RPCs) and create pilot programs to test and prove Tosca's RPC program's viability. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the progress and results of pilot programs.
  • Work with Tosca team members to validate opportunities before presenting solutions to prospective clients, including a cross-functional team of operations, finance, business development, transportation, logistics, and product development.
  • Develop and coordinate project rollout plans for pilot programs and secure new business.
  • Actively participate in new customer roll-outs until the account is stable and the day-to-day management can be transitioned to the supplier sales and customer solutions teams.

Qualifications

  • Process Improvement degree or certification
  • Mechanical engineering experience would be an asset.
  • New business development would be a definite asset.
  • Experience in the packaging industry and/or food supply chain industry is a plus.
  • Sales experience in the food industry would be beneficial for overall qualifications.
  • Proficient working knowledge of the MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) and Salesforce
  • Proven ability in identifying customer solutions, negotiating, and closing new business.
  • Strong customer-facing skills are required in addition to an excellent customer service experience.
  • Excellent oral and writing skills.
  • Excellent communicator, both internally and externally.
  • High level of organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Ability to think quickly, make decisions, and resolve issues promptly.
  • Ability to establish a good rapport with all customer types and various levels of contacts.
