Working under the direct supervision of the Cost Accounting Supervisor, the Cost Accountant will perform responsibilities related to the month end close, budget creation and analysis, and management reporting. This position will assist in the development and maintenance of an effective ERP cost accounting system to reduce cost and improve overall efficiency and profitability. Employees in this position may interact with their leader several times a week to receive guidance and feedback. Most non-routine activities may require their leader's advance approval, but routine decisions within the general scope of the role may be made independently.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the maintenance of the standard costing system including material costs, labor and overhead.
- Assist in the preparation of the Operations budgets, actuals and forecasts.
- Perform variance analysis and reporting to include manufacturing, purchase price and run rates.
- Develop costing requirements for new products and production lines.
- Assist with the standard cost roll.
- Assist with obsolete and year-end inventory valuation in accordance with company policies and external audit.
- Monthly reconciliation of inventory balance sheet accounts.
- Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the ERP modules.
- Assist in the analysis of complex manufacturing processes in coordination with Operations managers to improve decision making.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of this role.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited 4-year college required.
- At least 2 years' experience within a manufacturing environment preferred
- 1 year Cost Accounting experience preferred.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE)
- Proficient in Excel including vlookups and pivot tables.
- Working knowledge of an ERP system; SAP preferred.
- Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills.
