About the Department | The Department of Life and Earth Sciences (LES) at Perimeter College encompasses coursework in biology, environmental science, geology, integrated sciences and neuroscience. Academic pathways in Biology and Geology are available through the department, but our courses also support other academic interests, such as chemistry, health- related fields, environmental science, medicine and education. |
Position Description | Tenure-track positions are acadmic year (August – May) appointments. The selected candidate will be responsible for: • Providing 27-30 semester hours of instruction per academic year • Maintaining weekly office hours • Working effectively and professionally with colleagues Expectations also include service to the college at the department, discipline, campus and college-wide levels. Perimeter College requires and supports innovation and professional growth, expecting the successful candidate to engage in professional development activities which demonstrate career goals that are consistent with the college’s mission. |
Required Education | A minimum of a Master’s degree required in Biology or related field or a minimum of a Master’s degree with at least 18 semester or 27 quarter graduate hours in relevant coursework (completed by the anticipated date of appointment) is required. |

Preferred Qualifications/Experience | The preferred candidate will have: • Prior biology teaching experience at the collegiate level. • Doctorate in Biology or related field strongly preferred. |
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | • Ability to teach Biology courses on the college level. • Ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods (demonstrated knowledge of instructional technology) • Ability to relate to a diverse student population and facilitate student learning • Excellent communication, organizational and computer skills (able to maintain appropriate records). • Effective oral and written communication skills |
Work Hours | Position may require non-standard hours (including day, evening, online, hybrid, weekend and/or other campus locations). |
