JOB SUMMARY:

The Robust Process Improvement (RPI) Specialist is an integral role designed to support the Grady Health System on its journey to becoming and sustaining a highly reliable, highly efficient organization. The RPI Specialist will facilitate the work of cross-functional teams that are chartered to deliver significant operational (clinical and non-clinical) improvements. The RPI Specialist will help develop, improve and implement processes and procedures meant to improve quality, patient safety, patient satisfaction and overall operational efficiency throughout the Network. The RPI Specialist will utilize (Plan-Do-Check-Act) PDCA, Lean, and Six Sigma improvement methodologies, robust data/statistical analytics, as well as Change Management in improvement work.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, healthcare, management science/operations research, organizational development, or related field is required.

  • Master's Degree in engineering, healthcare, management science/operations research, organizational development, or related field is preferred.

  • Seven (7) or more years of process improvement experience using Lean and/or Six Sigma tools working in hospitals, home care, skilled nursing facilities, rehab centers, surgery centers, physician practices and other healthcare setting required.

  • Demonstrated success in facilitating improvement projects with demonstrable and sustained outcomes required.

  • Certificate and/or Certification in Six Sigma Black Belt by the American Society for Quality (ASQ) required.

  • Proven passion and drive to ensuring projects are facilitated well required.

  • Ability to manage, prioritize, and complete multiple projects on time and with success (strong project management skills) required.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills required.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills required.

  • Excellent organization and time management skills required.

  • Provides leadership, coaching and/or mentoring to subordinate group or project team required.

  • Ability to transfer knowledge to others (e.g., just-in-time training of statistical process control and other tools) required.

  • Ability to work in a matrix environment required.

  • Ability to work within and across settings that span the full continuum of care (i.e., not just acute care hospitals) required.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with project sponsors, team leaders, team members, content experts, and others required.

  • Ability to learn business intelligence programs required.

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint required; Access, Visio, and Project) preferred.

  • Experience with QI Macros or other PI tools preferred.

  • Experience with statistical software preferred (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R, Strata) preferred.
