Job Description
The Byrdine F. Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions is seeking a Clinical Instructor to serve as the Simulation and Skills Lab Coordinator. A Clinical Instructor is a non-tenure track faculty position. This position is responsible for coordinating the routine activities of the nursing skills lab and simulation suites, instruction, and evaluation of students in the lab setting, maintain the lab environment, and assist in supporting the development and maintenance of the simulation lab curriculum. This position will report to the Director of the simulation center. The Lewis College received a grant to build-out a new clinical simulation center consisting of one large and two medium-sized skills lab and three simulation suites. All new equipment for the center will be purchased over the next year and a half.

This position and the Director of the simulation center, along with others, will play pivotal roles in establishing the new center.

Responsibilities include:

 
  • Works collaboratively with faculty to design, plan, implement, and evaluate simulation education lab activities which support student learning outcomes.
  • Assists faculty with lab course instruction.
  • Coordinates simulation lab usage with other Lewis College departments.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates the use of technology throughout the curriculum.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates theory content.
  • Assists in assessing need, care, maintenance, and use of laboratory equipment, supplies, and facilities. Requests supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Demonstrates leadership and role modeling skills.
  • Demonstrates responsibility for continued professional growth, competence, and development. Attends and participates in the School of Nursing committees/programs as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Master’s degree in Nursing
  • Current State of Georgia Nurse License
  • One to three years of experience in simulation and skills lab teaching, or a combination of education and experience
commensurate with the requirements of the position.
  • Recent medical-surgical experience.
  • Ability to prepare and organize simulation laboratory and demonstration materials.
  • Ability to understand and utilize advanced technical sim-lab equipment and communicate that knowledge to
others as appropriate.
  • Ability to anticipate and effectively adapt to changes in program requirements and methodology.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.


Working Environment- Conditions are those of a typical office, classroom and teaching labs, requiring frequent oral and written communication with college employees, students, and vendors, the presentation of information on-line and in face-to-face settings. The ability to be generally and continuously aware of the safe and appropriate operation of the lab equipment and material is essential. This position may have work obligations outside the universitys normal business hours.

Effective Date and Compensation: Academic Year 2023-2024. Competitive compensation package.
