Georgia State University
Library Faculty Position, Newton Campus
Position
The University Library is hiring a forward-thinking and collegial Learning and Engagement Librarian based at the Newton Campus and will report directly to the Department Head for the Newton and Decatur campuses.
Responsibilities
You should be eager to partner with faculty in their teaching and research and engage with students in their first and second years, primarily in learning the information tools and skills needed to succeed in college and career.
Environment
This position is based at GSU (Georgia State University) Perimeter College’s Newton Campus. Perimeter College (https://perimeter.gsu.edu) became a part of Georgia State University in January 2016, a consolidation that formed the largest university in Georgia. For additional information about the six libraries that make up Georgia State University Library, visit library.gsu.edu.
Perimeter College opened its campus in Newton County in 2007 with a warm reception from residents living in the eight southeast metropolitan Atlanta counties that it serves. The campus sits on a 100-acre property generously donated from the Arnold Fund about 40 miles east of Georgia State’s Atlanta Campus.

Required Qualifications
Condition of Work and Benefits
$53,000-$58,000, dependent on experience, education, and faculty rank. Appointment at faculty rank (Instructor/Assistant Professor) is on a 12-month contract renewal basis.

- Participate in developing innovative instruction techniques, tools, and assessments
- Participate in student and faculty outreach activities throughout the university
- Provide reference service in-person and online
- Create and maintain multimedia web-based information literacy and instructional materials
- Engage and support the faculty, staff, and students' research, teaching, and learning needs

Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program
- Skilled at working with a wide array of users and colleagues with varying needs
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel between campuses and participate in online meetings
- Creativity, initiative, and interest in innovative approaches to reference/research assistance, library instruction and outreach work
- Experience with outreach and/or programming
- Minimum of two years of experience teaching or providing library instruction in face-to-face and/or virtual settings
- Experience creating digital learning objects
- Working knowledge of new and emerging technologies
