Learning and Engagement Librarian, Alpharetta Campus and Perimeter Honors College Liaison
Library Faculty Position, Alpharetta Campus

Position
The University Library is hiring a forward-thinking and collegial Learning and Engagement Librarian based at the Alpharetta Campus. This position is also library liaison for the Honors College for all Perimeter Campuses and will report to the Department Head for the Alpharetta and Dunwoody campuses.

Responsibilities
You should be eager to partner with faculty in their teaching and research and work with students in their first and second years, primarily in learning the information tools and skills needed to succeed in college and career.
  • Participate in developing innovative instruction techniques, tools, and assessments.
  • Provide reference service in-person and online
  • Create and maintain multimedia web-based information literacy and instructional materials
  • Participate in student and faculty outreach activities throughout the university
  • Engage and support the faculty, staff, and students' research, teaching, and learning needs
  • As the Perimeter Honors College Liaison, coordinate library services instruction, reference, and outreach events for Honors College; work closely with Honors College staff and faculty, including attending regular staff meetings; and collaborate and communicate with Honors College Librarian on Atlanta campus.
This librarian serves as a member of the library faculty (12-month; non- tenure track), holds faculty rank, and is expected to participate in research, professional development, and service activities as outlined in the University Library’s faculty guidelines. Environment
This position is based at GSU Perimeter College’s Alpharetta campus. Perimeter College (https://perimeter.gsu.edu) became a part of Georgia State University in January 2016, a consolidation that formed the largest university in Georgia. The Alpharetta campus is located in the growing suburbs of Alpharetta and Johns Creek, 27 miles north of the downtown Atlanta campus. The Alpharetta campus has an enrollment of approximately 1400 students and a library staff of four employees, so the Reference-Instruction librarian has opportunities to develop professional relationships with faculty and students in all disciplines and collaborate with multiple campus departments.

Required Qualifications
• Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program
Skilled at working with a wide array of users and colleagues with varying needs
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to travel between campuses and participate in online meetings

Preferred Qualifications
• Creativity, initiative, and interest in innovative approaches to reference/research assistance, library instruction and outreach work
• Experience with outreach and/or programming
• Minimum of two years of experience teaching or providing library instruction in face-to-face and/or virtual settings
• Experience creating digital learning objects
• Working knowledge of new and emerging technologies

Condition of Work and Benefits
• Twelve-month assignment, faculty rank, non-tenure track

Salary and Rank
$53,000-$58,000, dependent on experience, education, and faculty rank. Appointment at faculty rank
(Instructor/Assistant Professor) is on a 12-month contract renewal basis.
