We are looking to add MRI Technologist to our phenomenal Imaging team!! In addition, we'd like to offer the selected candidate a $5,000- $10,000 sign-on bonus as an incentive; Relocation assistance for out-of-state applicants may be available. (Full-time and Part-time only eligible for the bonus!)

SUMMARY Under the direction of the radiologist, the MRI technologist performs total body imaging for neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients in various body planes, producing quality images for diagnostic interpretation. The MRI technologist effectively utilizes all imaging capabilities of the MRI scanner. The technologist is responsible for maintaining the optimal level of patient care. In addition, the MRI technologist will assist in the optimization of patient flow and study throughput.

Job Responsibilities

  • Greets and introduces self to patient. Prepares patients for procedures by performing a medical assessment of the mental and physical evaluation of lab values, confirming patient identification through verbal communication and ID band (if applicable), and describing the nature and time requirements of requested examinations to the patient. Records patient history, unusual conditions/limitations, and other vital information.

* Attends regularly scheduled department meetings i.e. staff, in-service, training, etc.

* Trains Radiologic Technology students.

* Identifies problems and communicates to the immediate supervisor; offers solutions as appropriate. Enters detailed accounts of patient incidents in the Peminic Incident Reporting System.

* Schedules patients in sections and coordinates scheduling with other departments to ensure patient flow. Operates MRI scanner according to hospital protocol and manufacturer's recommendations. Demonstrates working knowledge of equipment and workflow for all MRI departments. Demonstrates correct and adequate anatomic positioning skills.

* Follows all physician orders and order requisitions. Consults with a radiologist and/or other physicians regarding examinations as necessary. Assists Radiologists with special procedures (i.e., biopsy's, abscess drainage procedures), practices the sterile technique, and prevents cross-contamination to patients and instruments.

* Assumes charge position as required in the absence of supervisory personnel.

* Provides radiation protection to patients, staff, and self, according to prescribed safety standards.

* Restocks and maintains assigned workstations/equipment in an orderly fashion.

* Recognizes emergency situations, initiates code procedures, and administers first aid/CPR as needed.

* Retrieves and loads images and resolves "exceptions" in the PACS system. Tracks images to "end procedure" in EPIC (Electronic Health Records) and assures that all images are archived at the end of each shift.

* Maintains all aspects of the MRI scanner protocols and procedures.

* Coordinates and maintains scheduled service of the MRI scanner.

* Transfers all MRI images performed in the MSU MRI scanner to the appropriate systems for interpretation.

* Maintains a level of hygiene in the MSU equal to that of Grady inpatient medical care sites.

Required Experience

Applicants may be:
a. Enrolled in an approved ARRT institution with an accredited MRI program
b. Recent graduate from an approved ARRT institution with an accredited MRI program, and eligible for ARRT-CT certification via the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
c. An experienced Registered Technologist who's eligible for ARRT-CT certification via the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists

Required Skills/Cert/Licenses

  • ARRT-MRI certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-MRI) no more than 6 months post-hire (if applicable).
  • Must remain a member, in good standing, of the ARRT or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) by maintaining appropriate CE credits and annual renewal of license(s).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
