The Department of Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS) at Georgia State University (GSU) is looking to add to our existing team of faculty by inviting applications for a clinical assistant professor in School Psychology. The individual chosen for this position will have an earned doctorate in School Psychology from an APA accredited program, with evidence of successful teaching and clinical supervision experience. Preference will be given to applicants who either have or are eligible for certification as a school psychologist and licensure as a psychologist in the state of Georgia.
The successful applicant will have experience as a school-based practitioner and university instructor. They will contribute to our School Psychology programs by coordinating our assessment sequence (coursework and practica) and contributing to the supervision of students’ school-based field experiences. Other teaching opportunities (including summer teaching) may include topics connected to the candidate’s professional specialization, training, and experiences. The job responsibilities for this position include a commitment to excellent teaching and clinical supervision of graduate students; contributing to governance of our M.Ed./Ed.S. and Ph.D. School Psychology programs; and participating in service activities at the departmental, College, and University levels.
The CPS department has nine graduate programs, including three doctoral programs (Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education and Practice, and School Psychology) and three master’s programs (Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, and School Counseling), as well as the combined M.Ed./Ed.S. degree in School Psychology. Highly productive and collaborative research efforts are supported by two active research centers: the Center for Research on School Climate and the Center for the Study of Stress, Trauma, & Resilience.
