Job Summary

The Nuclear Medicine PET CT Technologist utilizes radioactive isotopes to perform diagnostic and therapeutic examinations to assist the physician with the diagnosis and treatment of patients. An example of exams performed on Nuclear imaging systems are NM Bone Scan, NM Amyloid Scans and NM Cardiac Exams. Exams performed on the PET CT Scanner are Copper 64, Pylarify Prostate Imaging and Rubidium Cardiac exams. Treatments performed are the I 131 Thyroid Therapy, Y 90 Liver Ablation and Xofigo Prostate Therapy.

Job Responsibilities

- Operates current instrumentation and adheres to imaging and radiation protection guidelines.
- Recognizes emergency situations and responds according to policy.
- Provides "On Call" coverage.
- Ensures Nuclear Medicine and PET CT equipment undergo proper Quality Control identifying concerns and reports malfunctioning equipment for repair.
- Performs IV-line placement to include Blood Glucose check and monitoring
- Must perform vital sign checks and properly document information
- Provides instruction to nuclear medicine and x-ray student technologists on procedures/policies.
- Consults with Nuclear Medicine physician to determine appropriate protocols/procedures.
- Administers radiopharmaceuticals using proper nursing practices and age appropriate patient care.- Maintains records for the receiving, dispensing, and disposal of all radioactive materials.
- Ensures nuclear medicine equipment operates properly and reports malfunctioning equipment for repair.
- Produces and analyzes diagnostic images for technical quality and processes computerized images.

- Applies radiation protection guidelines to minimize ionizing radiation to the patient and to him/herself.
- Maintains knowledge of PACS, Electronic Medical Records System, and Nuclear Medicine Information System.

Education

Required:
- Associates Degree having graduated from Accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology Program
- New Grads are welcomed to apply

Preferred:
- Bachelor's Degree

Experience

Required:
- Six (6) months General Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience performing

Preferred:
- One (1) year experience as Nuclear Medicine/PET CT Technologist

Skills/Cert/Licenses

Required:
- Must be registered by ARRT (N) or NMTCB.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Must have good working knowledge of all aspects of Nuclear Medicine Imaging.
