BASIC PURPOSE:

Under limited supervision, represents the division in reporting-related project activities pertaining to report development, automation of reporting and information distribution and quality assurance. Reporting often includes complex requirements and requires a high level of skill and expertise. Monitors the efficiency and effectiveness of reporting and proactively initiates and implements improvements. Serves as a liaison between the division's reporting and analysis function, the Information Technology division, and other areas of the Bank affected by the division's data and reports.
Validates data, compiles reports used for credit underwriting, collateral eligibility and valuation and other management decisions, and provides diversified database support for the division's management and teams.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Understands, executes and provides oversight of data warehouse reporting requirements and inter-relationships of requirements for various entities, such as SEC 10-K/10Q reporting, Federal Housing Finance Agency, Credit and Collateral Committee, board of directors reports, Office of Finance, etc. Manages workload and collaboration with others to ensure strict reporting deadlines are met.
  • Manages projects pertaining to automation of reporting and information distribution for the division and other areas of the Bank affected by this data.
  • Provides expertise and quality control review of data placed in the Bank's electronic data warehouse (EDW) and end user reporting system (EURS) environments.
  • Monitors the change control process to ensure effective and accurate change management, and proper documentation of changed requirements and testing results.
  • Performs and documents balancing-related controls to ensure data is loaded and validated properly. Researches and resolves discrepancies as needed.
  • Partners with business units, product owners, and technology stakeholders to translate potential data driven ideas into fully developed data and analytic solutions.
  • Makes recommendations and maintains policies and procedures regarding departmental and bank-wide usage of the data warehouse as well as bank-wide usage and necessary controls over data.
  • Monitors the data warehouse and related reporting activity for control deficiencies or gaps. Performs root cause analysis and tracks data processing and reporting control issues to make recommendations for process improvements.
  • Serves on departmental and enterprise working groups and projects, such as data governance, systems implementations and upgrades, and new initiatives.
  • Develops and fine-tunes solutions, including coding, testing, debugging, designing, optimizing and implementing dashboards and reports used on Oracle and SQL server platforms.
  • Implements business intelligence best practices, guidelines for reporting and repeatable processes.
  • Works closely with stakeholders and technology to design solutions that meet the Bank's warehousing needs while leveraging industry standards and best practices, and meet data requirement needs.
  • Continuously develops and maintains an understanding of business intelligence technology and architecture, including dimensional modeling, reporting tools, and other methods of information delivery.
  • Manages and oversees the Collateral Verification Review system (CVR) reporting process and data management process, or serves as a backup for these functions, including:
  • Works closely with Collateral management to translate data needs into reporting solutions.
  • Creates reporting solutions to identify data anomalies, and work with vendor to provide effective solutions to maintain the reliability of data and databases.
  • Optimizes SQL queries to provide fast and efficient rendering of reports via the system front-end.
  • Works closely with the end users and management during testing and after implementation to production to ensure reports function properly.
  • Manages the development and ongoing maintenance of all reports on the SQL reporting server.
  • Develops, maintains, and modifies a Manual Operations spreadsheet used to enable continued operations during business continuity/disaster recovery scenarios.
  • Maintains accurate and thorough procedures for reporting portfolio and other processes.
  • Stays current on other functions of the team and provides backups when required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Advanced understanding of SQL query language.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency with Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong systems orientation and technical foundation.
  • Proficiency with reporting tools such as Crystal Reports, SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) or Power BI.
  • Strong understanding of and related experience with internal controls and process improvement.
  • Ability to work on multiple, unrelated projects simultaneously under limited supervision.
  • Project management skills, including strong team-building skills and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exhibits a growth mindset and willingness to pursue continuing education and training in evolving technology and software and tools.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or information technology
  • A minimum of five years' experience with automated systems and database experience, and a fundamental understanding of accounting and financial analysis and reporting
  • Or the equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.

WORK LOCATION:Onsite with an opportunity to work remote partially. This position may not be filled in California, either in-person or remotely.
