In this role you will provide analytics and modeling expertise and guidance to Project Analysts and Design Analysts, and will make sure that the project is technically sound, on schedule, and within cost. You will manage assigned scope(s) of work within project(s) as directed by supervisor. The Senior Analyst will possess the skills required to manage smaller project efforts with reduced guidance and support from Engineering Management and provide technical expertise in applicable analytical and advisory disciplines.

Job Responsibilities:

    Technical and Analytical Responsibilities:
    • Uses knowledge and past experience to develop data-based solutions and recommendations for internal and external customers
    • Leads development and implementation of simulation, emulation, and other analytical models in a variety of software platforms (e.g. Emulate3D, FlexSim, @Risk, Python)
    • Assumes responsibility for all model design details and execution of assigned projects
    • Ensures that own work and that of other Team members adheres to Haskell's coding standards, best practices, and a high level of quality
    • Ensures that analysis, calculations, and assumptions are complete, accurate, and properly documented
    • Develops and implements model validation plans for developed models
    • Conducts analyses of system dynamics including system throughput and cycle time, bottleneck and buffer analyses and material flow and inventory analyses
    • Uses probability and statistics to model basic problems and make distinctions between scenarios
    • Conducts system audits at customer facilities including direct observation, stakeholder interviews, and review of customer-provided empirical data; develops actionable recommendations based on the audit results
    • Presents analytical results and recommendations in a clean and impactful way geared toward a variety of audiences which may include non-technical, business-oriented senior leaders
    • Performs economic analysis for project scope items as they relate to operational characteristics of the system (shift and crew scheduling, changeovers and production cycles, etc.)
    • Applies mechanical aptitude and understanding of automation and controls systems to ensure the feasibility and practicality of proposed solutions
  • Leadership and Team Development:
    • Proactively maintains knowledge of analytics, coding, and modeling through training, trade shows, independent study, etc.
    • Assists in the development of personnel through mentoring, technical guidance, and formal and informal training
    • Supports the Technical Lead in developing and implementing model design standards and enforces established standards for all projects
    • Supports the development and maintenance of custom analytics and modeling tools
    • Seeks innovative ways to complete analyses and support design and business decisions
    • Supports the Team and BU leadership in identifying and developing new analytics and advisory services to support internal and external customers
    • Advocates for the needs of the Team

    • Supports Team and BU policies, procedures, committees, and initiatives as applicable.
  • Business Development and Client Management:
    • Supports the Analytics Manager in the development of proposals by providing appropriate technical scope language and labor hour estimates
    • Develops modeling approach by eliciting problem statements, understanding data availability and Team capabilities, and selecting the most appropriate analytics tools
    • Supports the Business Development Team in creating content and training to effectively sell analytics services
    • Presents Team capabilities to internal and external clients
    • Maintains positive client relationships
    • Identifies potential future work opportunities
    • Operates as the primary client interface for analytics related communications during project execution
    • Manages client relations, including progress meetings, correspondence, weekly status reports, change orders and response to client inquiries.
  • Project Management:
    • With support from the Analytics Manager, leads assigned project work while managing the labor hour budget, schedule dates, and any scope variances
    • Coordinates project teams and supports appropriate resource utilization
    • Supports the Analytics Manager for project financial reporting and status maintenance
    • Tracks and monitors potential changes and associated cost; supports the negotiation of scope changes
    • Advises the Analytics Manager in the selection and negotiations with outside consultants when necessary for project expertise or workload. Manages and directs the work of consultants once engaged
    • Supports the development of the analytics project schedule and provides regular schedule updates
    • Monitors the progress of analysis and deliverable documents
    • Participates in design review meetings and provides input regarding feasibility as well as scope and cost changes
    • Maintains all project communication through regular review meetings
  • Travel is required.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial or Systems preferred), Analytics, Computer Science, or related degree.
  • 7-15 years of experience in analytics, modeling, or industrial/systems engineering. Experience in manufacturing is preferred.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications:

  • Analytics and/or coding experience required, including ability to learn new programming languages and syntaxes
  • Strong probability and statistics skills required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required, including ability to present to large or small groups
  • Strong data visualization skills required
  • Proficiency in Excel and data manipulation in general is required
  • Experience with discrete event simulation is required
  • Experience with Emulate3D, FlexSim, Gurobi, @Risk, and/or other simulation software preferred
  • Certification or experience with Lean and Six Sigma concepts is preferred
  • Knowledge of optimization and capability to formulate simple linear and integer programs is preferred
  • Professional certification is preferred

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
