Purchasing Specialist

Overview:
GEMU Valves, an ISO 9001-certified engineering equipment company, specializes in the development, production, and manufacturing of diaphragm valves. Committed to efficiency, accuracy, and excellence, we are expanding our team. The Purchasing Specialist will play a critical role in vendor identification, selection, and management. Your role will focus on fostering strong supplier relationships, developing procurement strategies, and leading the logistics coordination. You will be involved in upholding our commitment to accuracy, competitive edge, cost optimization, and quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently conduct negotiations to secure favorable prices, contracts, and delivery schedules, strategically ensuring optimal deals and value for the company.
  • Hands-on in creating purchase orders and meticulously oversee these from initiation to completion, ensuring a streamlined procurement process with focus on accuracy and efficiency.
  • Monitor and update relevant departments about price fluctuations and vendor pricing.
  • Serve as the main liaison between our company and suppliers, establishing and promoting strong professional relationships.
  • Regularly evaluate supplier performance, addressing any issues or concerns effectively.
  • Resolve any discrepancies in invoices and purchase orders with precision.
  • Update the purchasing-related databases for regular department functions and seamless growth.
  • Craft and present proposals, request quotes, and select suppliers based on a balanced assessment of cost, quality, and delivery efficiency.
  • Conduct market analyses to identify new sourcing opportunities.
  • Manage documentation related to Country of Origin and USMCA, collaborating with suppliers on Harmonized Tariff Codes.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as required to support the team's success.

Work Schedule:

  • Hybrid work schedule up to 50%
  • Flexible hours are required, including occasional evening or weekend work based on business demands.
  • Availability for international communication during non-standard hours is essential.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Exceptional negotiation capabilities.
  • Proven track record in purchasing diverse materials for a global manufacture company with presence in USA.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
  • Outstanding communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on up-to-date market trends and technologies.
  • Knowledge of international business practices, Incoterms, and customs regulations.
  • Experience in managing Material and Vendor Databases.
  • Proficiency in internet, email, and Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
  • Deep understanding of the company's mission and how your role contributes to our goals.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in business, purchasing management, economics, supply chain, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in purchasing and logistics in a manufacturing setting.
