Position Overview:

Working at the general guidance of the Director of Accounting, The Senior Accountant will be responsible for assisting the Accounting team with the monthly close and other accounting-related activities and projects as necessary. The primary responsibilities for the individual serving in this role will be to ensure revenue, expenses, and balance sheet activity are recorded in accordance with GAAP guidelines and in compliance with the company's accounting policies.

This individual will ensure a timely month-end close cycle as it pertains to their areas of accounting responsibility, including compliance with and documentation of internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for month-end close processes and activities to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial activity, including posting journal entries, managing balance sheet reconciliations, and other related activities

  • Responsible for monthly revenue recognition, including but not limited to preparing and posting revenue related journal entries, analyzing revenue client and product trends, and preparing various revenue reports

  • Participate in the determination of the monthly COS accruals (Admin, Network and Broker Fees)

  • Work closely with and support the Finance team in identifying and explaining monthly variances, required accruals, or responding to other accounting related inquiries

    • Assist in the annual operating budgeting and interim forecasting process providing analysis and review

    • Provide support for external audits

  • Contribute to continuous improvements, including identifying areas to implement automation

    • Assist with other accounting activities and projects as necessary.

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years progressive experience in an accounting role with a combination of industry and public accounting experience

  • Experience applying US GAAP and a demonstrated understanding of audit requirements

  • Experienced Excel user with knowledge of functions and pivot tables

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments

  • Results driven self-starter, who can work independently or with minimal supervision and who has had success in a team environment

  • Excellent organization and project management skills with attention to detail, including the ability to prioritize tasks and work on multiple assignments concurrently and to work under pressure of deadlines

  • Excellent written and oral communication

  • Experience with Workday Finance a plus

Education:

  • Bachelor's or equivalent in accounting
