Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities and duties of the Store Mechanic include but are not limited to:

Administrative:

Complete quality control service tags when inspecting rental equipment.

Fill out work orders completely (complaint, cause and correction) for each piece of equipment repaired.

Informs Store Manager of parts requirements, or when using stock parts from inventory for equipment repair.

Prioritize repairs based on corroboration with Store Manager

Maintain clean and organized work area.

Customer Relations:

  • Maintains a positive company attitude and personal uniformed appearance when repairing equipment at all times.
  • Communicate in a courteous and effective manner with customers and/or co-workers.
  • Alerts the customer personally upon arriving on the jobsite and before leaving the jobsite (when service is completed in the field).
  • Instruct customers as needed for proper care, maintenance, and safe operation of equipment.
  • When equipment cannot be repaired in the field notifies customer AFTER discussion with Store Manager of action to be taken concerning repair or replacement.

Technical:

  • Repair and recondition companies' and customer equipment as assigned by the Store Manager.
  • Perform service required on a specified range of products within the rental fleet , such as diesel and gas equipment, engines, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems, etc.
  • Must be able to diagnose and troubleshoot repair problems in a timely manner and check over equipment for other safety, maintenance, or mechanical problems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and maintain records on tools and equipment as required.
  • Do other duties in the shop, yard, and field as assigned by the Store Manager.
  • Properly operate and maintain company service tools, equipment, work vehicles, and work area.
  • Work in a safe manner and help others to work safely.
  • Maintain a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks.
  • Attend all department service training meetings.
  • Keep accurate record of time spent on jobs and make sure parts used are recorded; parts needed are requisitioned.
  • Properly tag and return warranty parts.
  • Provide appropriate supervision and training for service technicians as needed.

  • Efficiency of work as compared to repair times.
  • Productivity rate (hours paid/hours billed)
  • Quality of work accomplished/comebacks

  • Work area appearance
  • Ability to work effectively with others

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
