In this position, you will provide technical support for B&R Automation, Robotics & Discrete Automation Machine Automation in Roswell, Georgia, delivering superior, professional service, remotely or on site. You will be responsible for executing Field Service work according to agreed workflows, processes and safety guidelines. This role is also key in educating customers about best practices in maintaining and using our products and services. In close cooperation with customers and other B&R teams, this Technician takes actions to identify new Service business opportunities for B&R. This role will take direction from the Field Services Lead. The ideal candidates will be based within a regularly commutable distance to our office in Roswell, Georgia.

Your responsibilities

  • Health, safety and integrity: Applies safety rules and safe practices as well as environmental responsibilities
  • Reports unsafe practices and incidents
  • Customer focus: Contributes to customer satisfaction by planning and executing Service work according to customer order and expectation
  • Clear understanding of sense of urgency and care in the direct area of responsibility
  • Ensures customer retention by delivering superior customer experiences and effectively communicating service work timeline and expectations
  • Service delivery: Performs level field service tasks, identifies technical problems and makes analysis through remote or onsite activity in service categories and products for which they are certified to perform
  • Provides training in both informal and traditional setting to help our customers succeed in their use of B&R products and services
  • Materials and supply: Prepare material lists needed for service activity and ensures that all materials, parts, and equipment are available and at the appropriate quality for Service activities
  • Documentation and reports: Prepares all documents and customer reports to be signed by the customer
  • Utilize all relevant tools
  • Reports work done in a timely manner and follows up when needed
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoots equipment/process failure and makes recommendations to avoid repeating the problem in the future
  • Service excellence: Proactively executes work on a first time right approach with customers and ensures the job is done on time and on quality
  • Identifies improvement needs in the way of working and communicates them proactively
  • Additional duties as assigned
Your background

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Proven work experience as a field service technician
  • Experience with training delivery and knowledge transfer
  • Relevant technical degree or certificates desirable
  • Ability to travel and work according to a changing schedule at short notice
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Mechanical and electrical skills
  • Familiarity with mobile tools and applications
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Good communication and training skills
  • Physically fit and able to work with heavy equipment, able to safely and regularly lift up to 50 lbs
  • Able to work in a variety of climates and work environments, including exposure to cold and heat
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
