Job Description
  • Install, modify, repair, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and load new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment
  • Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment
  • Repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as die units, glue units, web offset presses, conveyor systems, bindery equipment etc. using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments. May repair or reproduce parts using welders or machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, surface grinders or other machine shop equipment
  • Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment, conveyors, and programmable controllers, following electrical code, using hand tools and voltage tester.
  • Follows electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications.
  • Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment, using hand tools and test equipment.
  • Replaces/repairs AC/DC motors up to 500hp. May plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
  • Detects malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, using test equipment, and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables, using hand tools.
  • May diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
  • Perform tasks safely in accordance with OSHA and LOTO standards

Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of the construction, installation, operation, and troubleshooting of sophisticated circuitry and controls associated with unique projects
  • Examples include ability to formulate the layout sketch of required electrical circuits, wire new test setups, install strain gauge circuits and recording instruments as needed by the test program to measure performance of test articles, check the installed system to insure that specified electrical test conditions are attained, and may troubleshoot the electrical portions of the test equipment during test programs to determine cause of malfunction
  • Critical limits are controlled by intricate interlock of safety systems of novel design and great complexity
  • Knowledge and ability to anticipate and respond quickly to danger signs as they become evident through intricate warning systems to avoid loss of time and expensive equipment
  • Must have skill in the use of hand tools, power tools and test equipment needed to perform job effectively
  • Knowledge of electronics to electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, and transistors
  • 5 years industrial experience - minimum of 2 years experience in a printing environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical and electronic industrial equipment. Must be able to troubleshoot without prints and troubleshoot older equipment without PLC's. The ability to troubleshoot AC and DC, digital and analog drives from 1/3 to 200 horsepower is also required.
  • Must have PLC and DC drive experience, including troubleshooting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot proprietary electronics unique to the printing industry such as WPC register / cutoff controls / web guides; GMI color controls ; EPG color controls; Butler splicers; TEC dryers; Harris chill controls and NCI chill controls. Must have experience troubleshooting problems with baler systems, RTO systems, air compressors, air dryers, trendsetters, and other Pre-press equipment.
  • Knowledge of using a Multi-meter.
  • Knowledge of Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens PLC systems a must.
  • Must possess good communication skills and be customer-oriented.
  • Successful candidates should be able to work in a team environment, but also be a self-starter who can work without instructions and/or with little supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship program is a plus.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, and weekends required.

Additional Information

Thepay range for this role at the noted location is $26.70 - $32.84 / hour. The
actual rate of pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education,
skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. In addition to
base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also
include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and stand-by pay. RRD offers benefits
