Performs various tasks and duties to provide technical assistance and support to medical/surgical staff and personnel during and in the turnover of surgical procedures. Specializes in multiple surgical services and potentially works with neonates, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Is responsible for coordinating supplies and equipment for service and physician needs as directed by supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program and three years of experience as a Surgical Technologist. Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other hospital personnel, and promote collaboration among disciplines in coordinating patient care. Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Technologist in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). If grandfathered in (employed before 2/7/2016), must be certified within one year of promotion, if eligibility requirements for certification are met. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS). Note: As of February 7, 2016, employees previously in the Surgical Resource Technologist role are considered grandfathered and are therefore not required to meet the educational requirements of this job. Anyone applying for Surg Tech IV after of February 7, 2016 must meet the established requirements. Employees prior to February 7, 2016 will be required to obtain certification within one year of promotion to Surg Tech IV, if eligibility criteria for certification are met. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED Femtosecond Laser Certification preferred, if applicable. Associate's Degree or Higher OR Enrolled in an Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree Program in a Healthcare Related Field.
