This role will support retail drug assistance programs, working to enroll patients in foundation and pharma programs and communicating status and approvals with pharmacy teams. Retail pharmacy experience preferred.

Identifies coverage issues impacting the oncology patient and possible alternate sources of coverage through healthcare and community agencies and resources. Works with patients who are under-insured and identifies alternate resources. Performs comprehensive benefit analysis for patients with insurance coverage issues. Coordinates financial assistance process, including patient contact, submission of financial assistance application and Medicaid/ Medicare application process. Tracks coverage issues throughout the treatment period and provides clinical team with information on status of coverage issues. Assists with coverage for lodging and transportation needs for patients coming from outside the metro area. Researches assistance options. Follows up with agencies assisting in application and provides weekly and monthly reports to supervisor. Collects, maintains and analyzes detailed and extensive data for oncology financial and foundation assistance, including tumor site, demographics, disparate populations; utilizes data from numerous sources; provides comprehensive reports. Understands applicable compliance requirements and ensures requirements are met. Develops, maintains and manages databases for concurrent tracking of oncology patients referred for financial assistance/foundation assistance throughout the patient's treatment and follow-up period, including referral source, physician, clinician contact, financial assistance application submission, approval decision and re-application if applicable. Responsible for patient account process used for pharmacy financial/foundation assistance and reconciliation of accounts with outpatient pharmacy. Manages databases for pharmacy replacement program. Responsible for handling check requisition process and timely payment of lodging, COBRA, transportation services and pharmacy co-pays. Performs patient account review and handles direct bill invoicing.

REQUIRED:


1. Two years college or extensive healthcare financial services experience (4-6 years)

2. Database knowledge and experience

3. Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently

4. Knowledge of and experience in the utilization of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and graphic presentation computer applications

PREFERRED:

1. Demonstrated knowledge of hospital operations.

2. Minimum of two (2) experience in Oncology or BMT
