About The Center for Quality Growth and Regional Development

The Center for Quality Growth and Regional Development (CQGRD) is the educational research arm of the Georgia Institute of Technology's College of Design. The Center draws on the intellectual resources of other Georgia universities, including Emory University, Georgia State University, University of Georgia, Mercer University, and Clark Atlanta University. It helps achieve a superior and sustainable quality of life by generating new knowledge in land development policy, city and regional planning, architecture and community design, transportation systems, and environmental resources management. The Center is dedicated to studying, disseminating, and implementing ideas and technology that improve both the theory and practice of quality growth to realize this vision.

Job Summary

The Center for Quality Growth and Regional Development (CQGRD) is accepting applications for post-doctoral researchers.

As a component of one of the nation's leading research universities, the College of Design's Center for Quality Growth and Regional Development is at the forefront nationally and globally in advancing quality growth through research, development, evaluation, technology, and advocacy of policies and practices. As a thought leader for over 24 years, the Center has collaborated with governmental, residential, commercial, development, academic, nonprofit, and cultural communities focusing on five areas: transportation and infrastructure, community development, regional and land planning, healthy places, and impact assessment, and analytical tools and methods for decision and planning support. As a leader in its field, the Center is a collaborator and a catalyst for change that improves lives. We inspire individuals, organizations, and communities to create healthy and sustainable futures. Quality growth means creating vibrant, equitable, sustainable places that balance today's needs with tomorrow's promises. It is about creating a dynamic economy while enhancing health, being good stewards of natural resources, and fostering equal opportunity. Our mission is to study, disseminate, and implement ideas and technologies that improve the theory and practice of quality growth. We pursue our mission through research projects, presentations, academic publications, policy evaluation and advocacy, and planning practices. We use data, capacity building, and analytics to create solutions that solve complex problems for communities, cities, regions, and megaregions.

The successful candidates will work with an established research team to conduct the research outlined in the Center's strategic planning areas. In addition to conducting research, the position requires the ability to write successful grant proposals and technical reports and provide management and project oversight. Advanced analytics skills are required, especially in data manipulation, visualization, analysis, and modeling. Skills in Python and R are highly desired.

Responsibilities

The successful candidates will work with an established research team to conduct the research outlined in the Center's strategic planning areas. In addition to conducting research, the position requires the ability to write successful grant proposals and technical reports and provide management and project oversight.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in urban planning, urban affairs, engineering, economics, geography, public policy, information systems, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced analytics skills especially in data manipulation, visualization, analysis, and modeling.
  • Skills in Python and R are highly desired.
