About the Constellations Center for Equity in the College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology

Based in the College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Constellations has been on a mission to expand access to computer science education to underserved communities since 2017. We are a center focused on increasing equity in computing. But we are so much more than that. We are a convener of people. We are a policy think tank. We empower administrators, teachers, and students to learn computer science, opening up opportunities they never dreamed possible. We are a hub and national leader for research and advocacy. Job Summary

The Computing Equity Fellow will carry out transformative, cross-disciplinary research; contribute to understanding the legacy of racial inequity in computing; and disseminate findings that drive meaningful national conversations on educational justice and racial freedom.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collect, process, and analyze quantitative and qualitative research (surveys, experiments, and focus group data).
  • Assist faculty researchers and other collaborators both at Georgia Tech and externally, or may act independently, in planning and designing research studies, such as surveys, focus groups or experimental designs.
  • Present project results to internal and external parties.
  • Perform advanced statistical analyses, including selecting the appropriate analysis procedure, setting up data for analysis, judging validity and reliability of data, and producing publications on the results of the analyses.
  • Supervise and train undergraduate research assistants.
  • Present research findings at professional conferences.
  • Search pertinent scientific literature, as needed.
  • Perform the research required by the faculty supervisor to a high standard and in accordance with all institutional and federal regulations.
  • Work in a collegial and cooperative manner with the faculty supervisor and other co-workers.
  • Lead the development and implementation of ML based binary lifting & understanding, as an integral part of our Code (binary) Distillation methods for DARPA V-SPELLS.

Hybrid Working

This is a hybrid working position.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must have a PhD in education, public policy, or a related field. Candidates who received their terminal degree between January 1, 2021 and January 1, 2024 are eligible to apply.

Constellations specifically seeks applicants with a relevant scholarly focus. Areas of research may include, but are not limited to: STEM or computing equity, racial equity, public policy, educational equity, racial justice, etc. Scholars whose research focuses on marginalized communities in computing and/or utilizes critical frameworks are especially invited to apply.

Skills

  • Experience with social science research methods;
  • Ability to track and adhere to multiple deadlines;
  • Can work both independently and in a collegial and cooperative manner with the faculty supervisor and other team members;
