Teleport (TOC) Operator

Job Description

Primary responsibilities include the operation of satellite transmission equipment, including satellite antennas, digital receivers, encoders, modulators, cross converters, transmitters, and various test equipment.

* Be first contact between client and affiliates when dealing with issues belonging to transmission and be able to direct or guide them to a solution.

* Route analog, SDI, HD-SDI, and ASI signals within the Encompass facilities as well as to various clients

* Work with the ScheduALL program to coordinate all daily services between all the Encompass Digital Media facilities

* Work with Encompass Schedulers for the allocation of all resources and be a guide to answer and troubleshoot items for various occasional bookings

* Handle Conditional Access responsibilities including authorizations and de- authorizations of IRD's for various clients on Arris and Cisco platforms; create program definitions and blackouts for Arris platforms, and create and maintain blackouts for Cisco platforms. Maintain and updating databases for all of EDM clients

* Monitor all full time services for signal quality as well as be able to help restore services in a timely fashion

* Coordinate Disaster Recovery scenarios for various DR Clients. Also coordinate scenarios between EDM-Glenbrook and EDM-Minneapolis when necessary

* Ability to work in a 24/7 flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and over time on a rotating shift basis

* Other duties as assigned

Requirements

* Two or more year's prior transmission experience from an Earth Station or Live Truck and/or Live Event environment

* Past experience with Cable Headend, Master Control environment, and/or other transmission environments

* Exceptional Phone skills

* Ability to read and understand technical manuals

* High School Diploma or equivalent required.

* College Degree or Military experience preferred

* SBE/SMPTE certification a plus

* Knowledge of various IRD models used for Occasional Use and fulltime services.

* Knowledge of various modulation and encoding equipment

* Knowledge of Cisco and Arris encoding systems

* Knowledge of ScheduALL computer program

* Knowledge of fiber and satellite systems in an Occasional Use or fulltime environment

* Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
