AXIS' Wholesale Lower Middle Market business unit is seeking a dynamic career-minded individual to join a strategic team of professional underwriters operating in one of the fastest growing areas of the Excess and Surplus Lines industry. Under Executive Vice President (EVP) and Vice President (VP) supervision, the individual will act within established guidelines to actively market, analyze, review, evaluate and monitor new and renewal E&S Primary Casualty accounts.

Within a progressive work environment, the individual will be responsible for the development, growth, and profitability of a targeted middle market focused E&S Primary Casualty book of business. The desired candidate should be recognized for their strength in new business development, client relationships, technical analysis, integrity, creativity, and the highest level of work ethic. Business results will be driven through strong underwriting analysis, very active sales and marketing efforts, long-term client relationship building, and collaborative engagement with internal business partners.

This position is located within the highly desirable mixed-use community of Avalon in Alpharetta, Georgia. Additionally, the position requires an office presence of three predetermined days each week, and it offers an open and highly collaborative work environment in a very modern setting.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

o Underwrite a profitable book of middle market surplus lines Primary Casualty risks employing the appropriate analytical skills to assess acceptability.

o Proficiency in analyzing General Liability pricing adequacy and appropriate terms and conditions for classes such as Commercial Contractors, Manufacturers, Distributors, and Service Industries.

o Ability to negotiate terms and conditions in a fast-paced and competitive environment with a broad range of wholesale brokers.

o Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.

o Underwriting and developing a profitable book of business in support of strategic business plans while retaining a diversified mix of business to achieve overall growth and profit objectives.

o Execute a countrywide marketing strategy that recognizes the risk appetite of the Lower Middle Market Primary Casualty business unit and the wholesale brokers that produce the desired accounts to meet new and renewal business goals.

o Support changes to long-term and short-term business strategies with the ability to adjust quickly to effectively achieve profitability goals.

o Make recommendations to EVP and VP regarding market strategy, product development and departmental efficiencies.

o A student of the business who seeks continual professional development and knowledge of national, state, and regional issues/regulations, industry activity and trends.

o Mentor less experienced staff and assist in the development of ongoing underwriting training.

Required Education/Training & Experience:

o A bachelor's degree is required and a CPCU, AU, and/or ASLI designations are viewed as a plus.

o A minimum of three to five years of standard lines primary casualty or E&S primary casualty underwriting experience.

o Sound negotiation and business development abilities. Established wholesale broker relationships are highly desired.

o Demonstrated technical skills and an above average level of knowledge of insurance coverage, underwriting principles, practices, and procedures.

o Effective communication, negotiation, and marketing skills.

o Ability to interact with all levels of internal and external business partners effectively and comfortably.

o Established wholesale broker relationships.

o Ability to effectively analyze and assess risk and develop creative solutions.

o Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.

For this position, we expect to offer a base salary in the range of USD 115K - 150K. The specific salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors, including the experience of the successful candidate and their work location.
