Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Manage/Supervise all aspects of a materials projects to ensure that it is safely completed on time and within scope and budget. Supervise the operation of a group which can include staff training, development, and performance review, utilization of equipment, safety oversight, quality of services and work product, timely delivery of services and deliverables, and adherence to policies and procedure.

Responsible for completing the project as per its contracted scope; monitor progress and performance against the project plan. Troubleshoot and recommend or resolve operational problems and minimize delays. Conducts/Attends meetings and prepares reports to communicate the status of the project to client. Set priorities and works with team to coordinate project staff to meet project targets and milestones. Responsibilities to communicate with the client and deliver work products to satisfaction of client. Coordinates effort with APR to make sure that APR has opportunity to engage throughout the project, particularly at critical junctures. Responsible for approving and management of budgets and invoices, preparing change orders, and may be involved with collections.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • With support from the Department and Office Manager develop and manage/support employee staffing, recruitment, selection and on-boarding.
  • With support from the Department and Office Manager prepare and execute annual business plan for the assigned group.
  • Leads safety efforts for project team and direct reports.
  • With support from the Department and Office Manager oversee and manage the success of the key group metrics of revenue growth, staff chargeability, project billing, and project profitability.
  • Responsible for managing all aspects of small to large sized project.
  • Works with client to define project scope, schedule and budget. Responsible for preparation of proposals and cost estimates.
  • Take action to resolve operational problems and minimize delays.
  • Identify, develop, and gather the resources to complete the project. This may include preparing calculations, designs, reports and work specifications; developing project schedules, budgets and forecasts; and selecting materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors.
  • Conduct meetings and prepare reports to communicate the status of the project.
  • Set priorities and work with the team to assign tasks to meet project targets and milestones.
  • Coordinates with APR to ensure appropriate oversight is in place and sufficient time allowed for reviews of all critical junctures.
  • Coordinates with accounting for financial management of business intelligence, invoicing and may be involved in collections
  • Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risk. Be familiar with company risk policies.
  • Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrates safety practices. Promote pre-task planning for all projects.
  • Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor quality standards and practices. Engage APRs on projects at their onset.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in technical discipline practiced by the Firm including Engineering or Geology and 10 years' practice experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 15 years' related experience.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
Preferred Certification:
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geology (PG) registration.
  • Ability to become a Firm Authorized Project Reviewer (APR) within 1 year.
