TGS is a subsidiary of the St. George Tanaq Corporation, an Alaskan Native Corporation (ANC) committed to serving Federal customers while also giving back to the Tanaq native community and shareholders.About the RoleWe are seeking a Custodial Supervisor to oversee custodial operations and daily staff activities as a lead at the Orville and Wilbur Wright Federal Buildings. The work will involve assigning work, directly supervising and training an entire custodial/janitorial workforce engaged in the buildings' custodial services operations. This includes, but is not limited to, planning, assigning, and supervising cleaning activities. The supervisor must comply with all policies, procedures, and regulations, and is expected to strive to train and motivate their team to find innovative solutions to complete assignments.This is a fully onsite position that will report to the Orville and Wilbur Wright Federal Buildings in Washington, D.C.ResponsibilitiesWork closely with the Custodial Manager to supervise crew leaders and janitorial site-based staff to ensure work is completed according to contractual scope, quality specifications and safety standards. This position will perform crew lead responsibilities (day or evening shift), if needed due to absences.Performs a variety of functions to assure facilities are clean and free of safety hazards.Effectively control costs as established by the annual budget and cost model.Responsible for working with the Project Manager and Custodial Manager for sourcing materials and supplies to ensure best price and budget compliance. Maintain quantities of supplies, stock, and equipment. Submit requests to purchase and replace equipment when necessary.Ensure that all required reports are timely, accurate and complete.Inform the Custodial Manager in a timely manner of any issues or concerns, including progress or any deviations from the established projects, goals or policies.Addresses, solves, or escalates client concerns or deficiencies as appropriate.Monitor employee scheduling, sick days, vacations, including time off, tardiness, absences, etc. and approve time sheets, ensuring departmental coverage and customer satisfaction.Schedule and oversee custodial staff performing services.Prioritize and assign tasks and coaches staff in performing duties.Inspect work areas on a regular basis, including the waxing and buffing of floors and the outside grounds to ensure quality. Train and assist staff in performing duties and the safe and proper use, cleaning, and maintenance of products and equipment to meet quality and safety standards, along with obtaining or maintaining proper certifications.Fill in for custodial staff when needed. Maintains routine contact with direct reports to ensure a productive flow of two-way communication on issues and concerns.Participate in staff recruiting process along with Custodial Manager, collaborating with TGS Human Resources to post and advertise jobs, Act as Hiring Manager for crew leaders and teams, ensure proper new hire paperwork is completed and submitted in a timely manner.Recommend and implement programs to improve employee retention, as needed.Documents and appraises performance of crew leaders and janitorial crews, taking disciplinary action when necessary.Regularly performs health and safety training and maintains records to the crew level.Participate in Quality Control Investigations and report finding to the Project Manager for resolution.Responsible for the overall safety of all personnel under their supervision. Works to promote a positive safety culture in the workplace through personal example and by requiring full compliance of all safety policies and procedures, and applicable federal, state and local regulations.Maintain compliance with all labor laws and CBA agreements.May utilize the Maximo NCMMS system for work orders, review service calls and inspection reports.Perform other duties and work on special projects as assigned and as needed. Requirements Required Experience and SkillsMinimum 3 years of custodial management/supervisory experience in a large-scale housekeeping, janitorial, building maintenance or custodial work supervisory role required. Relevant experience in facilities management or custodial related work in Government or large commercial janitorial operations preferred.Knowledge of custodial practices, equipment, supplies and procedures, cleaning requirements and standards required by US Government, preferably the FAA.Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and groups of people who need to cooperate to achieve maximum efficiency.Must have at least 3 years of verifiable supervisory experienceStrong communication skills, both verbal and written.Abide by the Federal Drug-Free workplace policy.Experience using Maximo NCMMS system preferred.Valid driver's license and clean driving record may be required.Have a clear background and ability to pass background checks/screening.Education and Training RequiredMust have high school, vocational school, or trade school diploma or equivalentAbility to complete and pass the Cleaning Management Institute (CMI) Basic Custodial Technician certification within the first 30 days of employment.Ability to complete and obtain the CMI Advanced Custodial Technician Certification within the first 6 months of employment.Physical RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The remainder of the work is performed on job sites.
