Job Summary

The Application Solutions Architect role will be part of a dynamic, flexible, cross-functional team to provide and secure technology services for CCBSS. The role will be a key contributor leading and supporting activities that define the application architecture, vision, strategy, standards, security and guide the innovation, development, and management of modern application solutions within Microsoft Azure. These solutions will enable the organization's current and future-state business capabilities and enable the organization to realize desired business outcomes. The Application Solutions Architect is someone who has a willingness to take initiative on projects and issues that arise, continuously demonstrates results in their work, and leads by example.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design and deployment of scalable, secure, and sustainable Azure solutions with a focus on application and data architecture including but not limited to Azure Analytics (Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, Databricks), Azure Databases Services (Azure SQL/Mongo), Azure AI Services (Azure Open AI, AI Search, Cognitive Services), Azure Compute (App Service, Kubernetes), Azure Development Services (Azure DevOps), Microsoft Power Platform, etc.
  • Support the integration of Azure data services and AI tools into business solutions, ensuring best practices are followed.
  • Engage in continuous learning activities to stay current with Azure technologies and certifications, focusing on application, analytics, data, DevOps, and AI services.
  • Leads the analysis of the current Azure application environment to detect critical deficiencies, legacy, and technical debt, and recommends solutions for improvement & modernization.
  • Works with IT and business peers to analyze enterprise business context (business strategy and trends) to derive CCBSS's future-state application architecture in Azure. This includes defining the requirements, principles and models that guide technology decisions for the enterprise.
  • Understands emerging technology trends and disruptions and their practical application to enable new and evolving business and operating models.
  • Translates business and technical requirements into an application architectural blueprint to achieve business objectives and documents all application solution architecture design and analysis.
  • Leads evaluation, design, and analysis for the implementation of application solutions architecture across business applications or technologies based on enterprise business strategy, capabilities, value-streams, requirements and standards.
  • Creates reference architectures focused on detailed design principles, decision points, detailed APIs, major systems and dependencies between the business, IT, and other business partners.
  • Provides deliverables like standard definitions, reference models and architecture designs to help the CCBSS Architecture Review Board (ARB) assess the impact of new and ongoing technology investment on the business and IT estate.
  • Ensure that the CCBSS technology landscape is running securely, efficiently, and effectively.

  • Participation in enterprise-wide large-scale projects of significant business impact. Requires strategic thinking of tools & technologies in market to provide best user experience.
  • Ability to drive troubleshooting of technology issues to resolution and continuously improve technology operations.
  • Ability to analyze KBI/process/systems metric performance, identify improvement opportunities, and drive systematic change.
Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information-technology, engineering or a related study, or equivalent experience.

Years of Experience
  • Minimum of five years of experience in Microsoft Azure.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in application and development architecture.
  • Hands-on experience of Azure Analytics, Azure Database Services, Azure AI Services, and Azure Development services.
  • Eagerness to learn and obtain Microsoft certifications.
  • Basic knowledge of programming and scripting languages.
  • Experience developing architecture blueprints, strategies, and roadmaps.
  • Experience delivering presentations to organizational leaders and technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated influencing skills.
Required Travel

Travel is not expected in this job, however, employees may be asked to travel for meetings or training on occasion.
