Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Civil Engineer in our Kennesaw, GA; Birmingham, AL; Mobile, AL; or Baton Rouge, LA offices to help manage, lead, and grow our civil engineering and utility client sectors. This role will be heavily involved in Geosyntec's continued project work related to the coal combustion residuals (CCR) and coastal/waterfront markets. In collaboration with top professionals in their field, the candidate will work on complex projects involving innovative civil design with unique water management and geotechnical challenges, but also will take a leading role in project and program management tasks for various civil design projects. Most tasks will be within the markets listed above, but the individual may also perform tasks in other company practice areas (mining, geo-environmental, groundwater, and sediments), as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Developing and/or reviewing technical drawings, specifications, engineering documents, and analyses for: civil design; site development and grading; stormwater management; and erosion and sediment controls;
  • Completion or review of civil and stormwater management design packages;
  • Providing construction engineering support to large civil-design and landfill projects;
  • Completing construction quality assurance (CQA) tasks for large civil-design and landfill projects;
  • Providing oversight and project management of multi-disciplinary projects and assistance in managing Client Programs;
  • Developing and maintaining strong collaborative internal (i.e., within Geosyntec) and external (i.e., clients and subcontractors) relationships;
  • Mentoring and developing early career engineers;
  • Recruiting, training, and mentoring early-career engineers; and
  • Preparing task orders and proposals including scope of work, cost/fee estimates, schedule, presentations, etc.
  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, boater certification, defensive driving certification, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.

  • Overnight travel: Up to 25%
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or closely related discipline. (required)
  • Advanced degree in civil or geotechnical engineering. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., PE) or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years (7+ preferred) of progressive experience in consulting industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Experience performing civil design and site grading. (required)
  • Experience performing hydrologic/hydraulic analyses and designing stormwater infrastructure. (preferred)
  • Experience in task and project management. (required)
  • Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required)
  • Experience with relevant engineering software. (e.g., AutoCAD Civil3D, SWMM, HydroCAD, and ArcGIS. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
  • Ability to pass client-required background check and drug screenings. (required)
