Description

The Director of Maintenance (DOM) is responsible for the continued Airworthiness of the FlightWorks fleet. The DOM will develop, implement, and execute policies and procedures that: help ensure dispatch reliability, promote client/customer satisfaction through quality maintenance provided at reasonable prices, build a dedicated and cohesive maintenance team, and ensure the timely flow of accurate maintenance related information throughout the company. The DOM will act as the primary interface with the FAA Airworthiness and Avionics Inspectors and is responsible for ensuring that all FAA regulations and standards are met or exceeded. The DOM will maintain a high level of communication, coordination, and dynamic interchange in support of the FlightWorks and FAA relationship. The DOM has direct oversight of the supervisors, inspectors and technicians in the Technical Services department and is responsible for ensuring that the highest levels of quality, safety and professionalism are always observed.

Ensure that FlightWorks fleet aircraft meets or exceed FAA, company, and industry standards for regulatory compliance, airworthiness, safety, presentation, and reliability

Manage the Technical Services Department to ensure that programs and projects are accomplished within client and FlightWorks approved budgets, on time, and in compliance with established company procedures.

Select, develop, motivate, appraise, and review key Technical Services staff subordinates to ensure the continued quality and dependability of their work.

Insure Technical Services staff has the depth and flexibility to react to short-notice assignments and company needs.

Develop long-range maintenance programs for the purpose of improving efficiency and safety.

Ensure that maintenance programs and projects are implemented in an efficient, timely manner and within established budgets.

Ensure the competence and expertise of all Technical Services personnel to provide the continuing maintenance of the aircraft necessary to achieve the highest level of safety in maintenance and operations.

Coordinate maintenance decisions, inspections, and actions with Operations, Sales, Government Services, and other departments concerned with meeting scheduled goals.

Perform monthly, weekly, and daily maintenance planning in an orderly, timely, and efficient manner so as to ensure maximum safety, efficient utilization of personnel, minimum disruption of aircraft schedules, and maximum aircraft availability.

Produce budgets and estimates for client review to assist with maintenance cost and downtime planning.

Develop, maintain, and modify FlightWorks specific maintenance documentation such as General Maintenance Manual, Minimum Equipment Lists, Continuing Analysis and Surveillance System program manual, RVSM Maintenance Program, Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program, Maintenance Training Program, and Conformity Inspection Program.

Ensure all manufacturer specific technical publications are appropriately updated and revised.

Audit outside / contract maintenance providers and suppliers to ensure they are properly trained, qualified, and capable of performing work that meets or exceeds FlightWorks, FAA, and industry standards.

Responsible to identify, evaluate, and implement mandates from external sources, such as original equipment manufacturers and regulatory agencies, etc. Responsible for complying with these mandates when performing their assigned duties.

Supervise maintenance performed by outside agencies to ensure the quality of the work, timeliness, and compliance with FlightWorks standards.

Conduct regular staff meetings, as required by current policy.

The DOM will be held accountable for safety, security, and quality standards.

Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanics certification. (Required)

FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) is strongly desirable.

High School Degree or equivalent with some college or university studies preferred.

Aviation business management degree or course work preferred.

Experience

Meets the requirements of 14 CFR Part 119.71(e)

Ten (10) years of maintenance and maintenance related management of corporate jet aircraft.

Five (5) years of maintenance supervisory experience.

Highly knowledgeable in Company Manuals, Federal Aviation Regulations, Operations Specifications, Aircraft Flight Manuals, and other documents and data pertaining to the duties listed above.

Skills and Training

Must possess current skills, ability, and training to mechanically maintain corporate aviation aircraft of the complexity that is representative of current fleet.

Model specific factory / manufacturer training desirable.

Must have significant training and knowledge in the concepts and programs currently utilized so that compliance is maintained and the ability to successfully supervise such programs is assured.

Must demonstrate industry knowledge in all areas of the Maintenance Department with the ability to educate, guide, motivate and instill others within the organization to achieve success.

Must have demonstrated excellent people skills with the ability to motivate, inspire, mentor, and create a team atmosphere in the workplace and build pride within the organization.

Strong leadership, management and organizational skills, as well as understanding of multi-disciplinary programs; must possess effective consultative as well as managerial skills.

Must be capable of analyzing aircraft maintenance performance data to assess and evaluate maintenance program effectiveness.

Must be capable of obtaining a United States security clearance.

Must possess effective technical and business writing skills.

Project management experience or background desired.

Equipment to be used

Must demonstrate an intermediate ability to use computers and computer software, including an intermediate degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

Must have the capability to learn Maintenance software and software currently being utilized by FlightWorks.

Must be technically oriented to manipulate company cell phones/blackberries, fax machines, copiers, iPads, iPhone and other equipment currently used during daily office activities.

Must be able to drive a vehicle and possess a current and valid Georgia (or appropriate) Driver License as well as maintain a satisfactory MVR.

Physical Requirements

Requires sitting, standing, bending, lifting and reaching.

Requires manual dexterity, sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, the telephone and other office equipment.

Must be physically capable of sitting for extended periods of time daily and cope with unpredictable schedules and on-call requirements as dictated by the constantly changing flight schedule.

Requires normal range of hearing and vision.

Must be physically capable of lifting small items not to exceed fifty (50) pounds.

Mandatory participation and ability to successfully pass all scheduled or random FlightWorks and FAA Mandated Drug and Alcohol Testing Programs.

Mental Requirements

Must possess the mental calmness required to effectively handle abnormal or challenging situations that may arise while working.

Must have the ability to maintain situational awareness with several layers of input data and visualize solutions using multiple sources of contributing information.

Excellent time management, job priority setting skills and organizational skills required.

Working Conditions

Flexible and unpredictable work schedule and available for on-call assignments as may be dictated by the constantly changing flight schedule and unscheduled maintenance demands.

Work in an environment with exposure to engine noise levels above normal decibels.

Travel domestically and internationally on company business when required.

Work in an aircraft shop/hangar as a Technician when necessary and required.

Duties may change or be modified from time to time with the constantly evolving complexity of the Flight Operations and Maintenance Departments.
