VACO IS SEEKINGPATIENT ACCOUNT REPRESENTATIVE FOR A CLIENT IN SMYRNA, GA!

As a Patient Account Representative, you will play a vital role in managing the financial aspects of patient accounts within a healthcare setting. Your responsibilities will revolve around ensuring accurate and timely billing, resolving billing discrepancies, and providing exceptional customer service to patients regarding their accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Billing and Invoicing: Generate and process patient invoices accurately and promptly using healthcare billing software. Ensure adherence to billing guidelines and regulations.

  2. Payment Processing: Record and reconcile patient payments, including insurance claims, co-payments, and out-of-pocket expenses. Follow up on unpaid invoices and outstanding balances.

  3. Insurance Verification: Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for patients. Collaborate with insurance providers to resolve any issues or discrepancies in coverage.

  4. Customer Service: Address patient inquiries and concerns regarding their accounts promptly and professionally. Provide clear explanations of billing statements, payment options, and insurance coverage.

  5. Collections: Initiate collection efforts for overdue accounts through phone calls, emails, or written correspondence. Work with patients to establish payment plans or negotiate settlements when necessary.

  6. Compliance: Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, such as HIPAA, in handling patient information and billing processes. Stay updated on changes in healthcare laws and regulations.

  7. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all interactions with patients, including billing inquiries, payment arrangements, and collection efforts.

  8. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including medical billing specialists, nurses, and administrative staff, to facilitate efficient billing processes and resolve patient account issues.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in healthcare administration, medical billing, or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in medical billing, healthcare administration, or customer service roles preferred.
  • Proficiency in using billing software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial transactions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathize and effectively communicate with patients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of healthcare billing regulations and compliance standards, including HIPAA.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
