What does a great Advertising Business Development Manager do?
The role of the Advertising Sales & Data Insights Business Development Manager (AMER) is to grow Travelport's advertising product sales within the South, Midwest and/or Mountain regions of the United States. We are looking for someone who poses a high level of energy, creativity, flexibility and likes a challenging dynamic environment (preferably in Midwest or Mountain Time Zones).

The ideal candidate is a successful salesperson who thrives in closing new business ad sales. A true go getter. This individual possesses a solid track record for achieving/overachieving their sales goals. Experience within online advertising sales in travel or hospitality and familiarity with Ad Networks is an advantage. He/she will be good with consultative value selling and comfortable using business intelligence and qualifying calls to uncover pain or gain points with new customers. The individual will be reporting directly to the Head of Digital Media & Data Solutions based in the United States.

Obtaining new business with the overall objective to grow revenue. The role will focus on identifying, qualifying, driving, and ultimately closing advertising opportunities over the telephone. This is the core part of the role and makes up 100% of the daily activities.


Responsibilities include:

  • Book appointments and sell via phone and Webex video meetings, Travelport's various advertising, ad network and promotional products/services to new customers within an assigned territory to achieve revenue goals.
  • Understand, compile, and communicate clearly, key commercial and campaign metrics to the customer via phone, email, and Webex/face-to-face video meetings.
  • Using various data tools, create relevant, targeted advertising campaigns to present and sell the company's products and value proposition to potential hotel customers to close the sale.
  • Strong aptitude for analytics and numbers, to understand and manage, amongst other things, solution pricing, campaign performance metrics, apply appropriate value-added elements for customers within given guidelines.
  • Maintain a complete and accurate customer database for the purpose initiating renewal of sales at the appropriate time, to sell new products and services to existing customers as they become available, and the ability to target customers to conduct sales promotions.
  • Submit and revise as necessary, all insertion orders ensuring that customer campaigns are processed accurately and per the customer's wishes.
  • Assist billing team, as necessary, in the collection of unpaid invoices.
  • Ability to learn quickly about new products and services and to be able to incorporate them into the portfolio of campaign solutions.
  • Any other duties that may reasonably be required.

Who we are looking for in this role:

  • 3+ years' experience in "new" business development phone sales, preferably from an online advertising, hospitality, and ad network media background.
  • Experience in building client relationships and managing existing customers to secure new business and upsell to achieve revenue growth.
  • Prior experience in the online advertising sales, travel industry or selling to hotels, travel distribution companies and/or hotel management companies is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM and LinkedIn Navigator.
  • Accustomed to using Microsoft Office - PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Highly independent and result driven individual who is used to working towards sales targets - hunter role.
  • Solution oriented with the ability to sell based on concepts and value proposition (Consultative approach).
  • Poses good analytical skills a plus, and good aptitude for interpreting business intelligence to conduct discovery calls, business reviews and media campaign reports.
  • Franklin Covey Sales Training a plus.
  • Strong customer service skills with both internal and external contacts.
  • Attention to details, proactive customer focus, responsive, organized and a team player.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to speak other/multiple languages a plus.
  • Knowledge of the Global Distribution Systems is preferable not required.

Salary Target: $70,000-$80,000
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
