How you'll make an impact:

As a Broadcast Operations Senior Technician at SiriusXM, you are in a front-facing role where you provide first line technical support for SiriusXM's content creation systems and content delivery systems based at our Business Continuity Facility in Ellenwood, GA.

The Broadcast Operations Senior Technician will interact with multiple departments and act as a point of contact for the site's service affecting outages, enhancements, and ongoing operational support. Interfacing with the Customer Service Representatives for any issues related to quality of service, the Facility Management on infrastructure related issues such as building power, HVAC, fire alarms, the SXM security office, along with third party content providers as appropriate. Project contribution is an important aspect of the role, helping to improve workflows and documentation.

What you'll do:

  • Your role will include reviewing systems operations logs, installing software and firmware updates to a range of broadcast specific hardware and IT based workstations, and servers- both physical and virtual.

  • You will assist and troubleshoot technical issues for both in-house and remote studio users.

  • You will address networking issues that are local or across sites.

  • Using your troubleshooting abilities, you will isolate and resolve the issues or escalate to subject Matter Experts (SMEs) via escalation procedures.

  • You will ticket issues and communicate status to management and affected teams.

  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders for all system upgrades, replacements, and enhancements to our Business Continuity facility.

  • Contribute to site documentation, ensuring it is created where necessary and updated when required.

  • Partner with facility management on building systems operations and failures - Intelsat and SiriusXM.

  • Interface with other departments such as Programming and Media Engineering, Systems Engineering, Data Services, as well as third parties.

  • You are responsible for control of systems which produce content for the broadcast channels including the playout, automation, scheduling, routing systems and audio file storage.

  • You will respond to technical alarms from the various systems in the Broadcast Operations Center in real time as well as addressing the needs of channel programmers. (Talent and producers).

  • You will directly interface with the Enterprise Control Center Shift Supervisors, the Broadcast Maintenance technical staff, Programming, Media Engineering and the Broadcast Ops Center in DC and NY.

What you'll need:

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on technical experience in broadcast or media content creation facility

  • Knowledge in a wide range of broadcasting or IT equipment and systems

  • College degree in a technical discipline or equivalent military or industry experience.

  • Knowledge of standard MS office suite, Visio and AutoCad

  • Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Work independently and in a team environment

  • Project professionalism in all forms of communication

  • Ability to multi-task and shift priorities

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and be comfortable on a ladder

  • Must be able to work on-site and all shifts required in a 24x7x365 broadcast and production facility (i.e., days, nights, weekends, holidays)

  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

Technical Experience

  • IT experience in the provisioning, supporting, and maintaining of endpoint and server hardware and software.

  • Problem-solving and diagnosis of endpoint issues for users that are both remote and local.

  • Incident ticketing and management using ServiceNow (or similar).

  • Configuration and support of Windows and Linux server operating systems

  • Virtual infrastructure/computing support at the direction of Tier 3 staff.

  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving experience within a data center environment

  • In depth knowledge of Windows and Apple OS, including MS Office, Office 365, and Adobe Creative Cloud products.

  • Understanding and troubleshooting of data network routers, switches, firewalls, and circuits using Splunk, Solarwinds, Wireshark or similar tools

  • CLI management and scripting experience a plus

  • Installation, configuration, and support of varied broadcast/production software

  • Digital and IP-based audio/video routing, playout and recording systems

  • Installation and deployment of systems, networks, and structured cabling within a broadcast facility

  • Demonstrated experience with broadcast consoles and related studio equipment.

  • Familiarity with satellite downlink operations and hardware support

  • Ability to diagnose, detect and isolate equipment faults by equipment log review and analysis of signal flow documentation

  • Ability to read schematics and data flow documents (AutoCAD/Visio)

  • Knowledge of configuration of Telos, LAWO, Evertz, and other media encoding devices is a plus.
