Department Information
Engineering (ECE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology is one of the largest producers of electrical engineers and computer engineers in the United States. Almost 2,600 students are enrolled in the Schools graduate and undergraduate programs, and in the last academic year, 801 degrees were awarded. All ECE undergraduate and graduate programs are in the top five of the most recent college rankings by U.S. News & World Report.

In addition to the main campus in Atlanta, Georgia, ECE also has permanent operations at Georgia Tech-Lorraine in France and Georgia Tech-Shenzhen in China. Graduate students who spend at least one semester each at three Georgia Tech locations (Atlanta, Lorraine, and Shenzhen on three continents: North America, Europe, and Asia) can earn the Georgia Tech Global Engineering Immersion Program (GEIP) Certificate when they receive the Georgia Tech M.S. degree.

Over 110 ECE faculty members are involved in 11 areas of research and education bio engineering, computer systems and software, digital signal processing, electrical energy, electromagnetic, electronic design and applications, nanotechnology, optics and pho tonics, systems and controls, telecommunications, and VLSI systems and digital design and the School is either home to or a key player in almost 20 research centers and consortia.

Job Summary

Provide strategic and tactical business oversight, management, and support for the school's research operations. Serves as the pre and post-award expert that will train and guide faculty and staff. Areas of responsibilities include but may not be limited to, Managing school-level research administration, proposals, and awards.This position will interact on a regular basis with: Faculty and staff and other applicable central offices. This position typically will advise and counsel: Faculty, Researchers and Staff. This position will supervise: Assigned department staff

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Lead school-level research administration analysis and decisions including financial commitments and cost share decisions. Coordinate and develop research administration processes. Lead preparer and submitter for proposals. Works with faculty & sponsors to validate proposed budgets and expenditures

Job Duty 2 -
Leads and trains the pre-award staff. Responsible for managing workload and filling vacancies. Coordinates re-budgets, no cost extensions, and award close-out. Maintains departmental records related to proposals & awards. Provides post-award guidance and training to the finance & accounting staff. When new awards are issued, holds a kick-off meeting with the appropriate accountant & faculty to ensure that all parties are aware of the budgetary & reporting requirements. Maintains a log of current & pending proposals and current faculty CVs for use in proposal submissions

Job Duty 3 -
Leads regular training for junior faculty on how to prepare and submit proposals

Job Duty 4 -
Prepares & distributes the monthly award & proposal report

Job Duty 5 -
Assist with preparing the space survey for F&A calculation. Tracks deliverables & reporting requirements

Job Duty 6 -
Collaborate with faculty & sponsors, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with all applicable policies, laws, rules, and regulations. Liaison with other applicable central offices

Job Duty 7 -
Assists with transfer of awards for incoming/outgoing faculty

Job Duty 8 -
Perform other related job duties assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in related field of study or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Eight to ten years of job-related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience
Preferred experience working with federal sponsors, National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Science Foundation and Department of Energy (NSF DOE) and Department of Defense (DOD) and other agencies regarding pre-award proposal submission and post-award management duties. Experience in compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), System Security Plan (SSP), and export control.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
Proficient with budgets, reading proposals, training. Ability to read and understand the importance of research related compliance regulations. Ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of faculty and staff.

KNOWLEDGE
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of pre- and post-award procedures and requirements. Expert with accounting principles. Proficient with multidisciplinary and center proposals.

SKILLS
Must be proficient with excel, grants.gov, cayuse, and research.gov. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Must have strong organizational and time management skills and ability to prioritize a high volume of work.

Salary range: $81,619.00 - $111,002.00
