Department Information

Georgia Tech Human Resources (GTHR) serves the Institute and its more than 14,000 employees through strategic counsel, employee engagement, and essential human capital management operations. As the people's unit, GTHR is engaged throughout the employee's lifetime at Georgia Tech. Our team works with sensitive employee information and assists in the management of complex employee issues. Professionalism and confidence are of the utmost importance within our team.

What we do:
  • Process payroll and maintain employment data for approximately 14,000 active faculty, staff, and students
  • Strive to attract, recruit, and retain the best talent in the marketplace.
  • Provide immigration, labor, and tax support required for foreign national faculty and staff to work at Georgia Tech and support employees performing services overseas.
  • Leverage a market-driven compensation structure to attract and retain employees.
  • Advise employees and managers regarding work performance and conflict management.

Job Summary

Lead in communications efforts designed to market a campus unit's products and/or services to target audiences. This position leads in the development of communications materials and promotional efforts with media representatives. This position will interact on a consistent basis with unit management and personnel, customers, and vendors. This position typically will advise and counsel unit management and media representatives. This position will supervise NA.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Conduct and utilize market research as necessary to recommend appropriate marketing communications strategies

Job Duty 2 -

Interact with external and internal media to generate publication of messages related to marketing efforts; write press releases related to products or services.

Job Duty 3 -

Develop content and oversee the design and production process for print collaterals.

Job Duty 4 -

Coordinate interviews and public appearances of unit personnel in support of marketing efforts.

Job Duty 5 -

Consult with Institute Communications and Marketing to ensure that Institute graphic and style standards are followed in all material.

Job Duty 6 -

Administer unit marketing/communications budget

Job Duty 7 -

Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience

Four to six years of job-related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Candidate should be proficient with the following:

  • Email marketing and platforms like MailChimp and Emma.
  • Web content creation and management systems (CMS) like Drupal and WordPress.
  • Graphic design software includes Canva, the Adobe Suite, InDesign, and Illustrator.
  • Project management systems such as Monday and Smartsheet.
  • Copywriting for web, newsletters, email campaigns, and articles

We're looking for a candidate who can write well, adapt to the voice and brand of our department, and deliver well-written campaigns. The ability to own a project from beginning to end. Report on findings and outcomes, adapting to improve results. We need a teammate who can think strategically and demonstrate a high level of integrity, honesty, and accountability. The job requires in-person support for events and attendance for recurring team meetings.

Proposed Salary

Pay Range: $53,687-$73,016/yr

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS

This job requires advanced skills in writing and communication, creativity, and the ability to incorporate a variety of resources and tools to develop marketing materials. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with external media representatives is required. Requires ability to understand complex and/or highly technical ideas and programs and communicate them in lay terms. Organizational and communication skills and the use of office and specialized computer applications are also required.
