How You'll Perform the Role

Position Summary:

The Tool Room Manager is responsible for managing a fleet of thin wall injection molding tools and the individuals that prepare and repairs thin wall injection molding tools for operation. The tool room manager will recommend repairs and capital expenditures for new tools as well as maintain critical spare components to ensure manufacturing can meet customers' demands.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate database of all tools and related run hours.
  • Develop and maintain records of the mold equipment regarding the expected life, proper care and storage of the mold equipment, recording replacement molds and new mold equipment as necessary to sustain the plant production operation along with operating expenses and mold budget expense.
  • Develop predictive maintenance plan for each tool as well as record work completed on each tool. Schedule all repairs and complete them on time and within budget without impacting production's needs.
  • Ensures that tooling maintenance performance is executed in a timely and cost-effective manner to maximize production.
  • Develop relationships with outside vendors to assist in maintaining the fleet of tooling and critical spare components.
  • Plan, supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the mold repair employees, Machinists, and Mold Shop Technicians to meet production and operating requirements and efficiencies.
  • Participate in cross functional teams to assist in troubleshooting tool issues that impact delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Promote an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Assist in developing programs to train tooling shop personnel.
  • Develop annual capital and operational budgets and operate within established budget parameters.

What We Need From You

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Six (6) or more years of experience in the field of thin wall Injection Molding Tooling preferred.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in a supervisory or management position
  • Experience in working with manufacturing based technology required.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Word for Windows, EXCEL.
